Active trader can be setup on the MT4 platform as well. Minimum to open is $2,000 for the regular standard 10k account, and $25,000 to sign up on the active trader account.

Wow, I just downloaded the Alpari (US) demo platform, and it takes about 5 seconds to process each order. Of course this is what it's like when you do it manually, I don't know what it's like when the order is pending. It's been my experience though (through another broker), that when there's a long manual delay, the pending orders are usually placed (when the price is met) almost immediately. But, then again, that can be varied too I suppose, through this VD plug-in.

Of the 60ish posts IO have posted here I have not intentionally Spammed as you internet freaks call it. Any DATA/TEXT provided within these posts was informative per the subject at hand. FXCM's MT4 uses no dealing desk and does not use a virtual dealing desk plugin. It doesn't make sense to use it and is incompatible with our no dealing desk system since each order is routed to the banks. FXCM is liken to the Walmart story. They just sorta fell into place due to happenstance and time of inception to the mass arena. And then they go soft on the Compassion, logical context side. But once an infestation is created it's part of the big picture. Beware of defensive posts riddled with holes on word play, some members here are sleeping with the Beast.

STP: A process defined as straight to bank but the question really is What Bank When and where.

FCM: The Broker , aka within non regulated EXCHANGE trading this simply is the other side of the risk you partake (counter-party), with the balance of your account as the buffer. I see the word play most FCM's within the spot fx casino circuit use is clever looping within the guidelines of disclosure. If you ask any Spot broker to specify a bank list they will play the confidentiality game. It's always a them or they never an IT.

Why do you think the margins are so high::::: 200/400/500:1 It's the eye candy for any and all to participate.

Unless you are a seasoned trader and know the game of momentum chances of you taking money from your FCM Pool ( Order Book) are very slim over the mid term to long term. If you were fortunate enough to have entered a trade that then winds heavy in your favor say 10 full contract at 150 pip and you were able to close, Also consider cashing out and move to the next booth.

On the one hand you want everything to be guaranteed (no slippage) but on the other hand you want there to be no conflict of interest (no incentive to slip) between you and the broker.

The choices are mutually exclusive (unless your broker is running as a non profit). The only way a broker can make guarantees if they act as the market maker directly and control the environment in which you trade. This is what creates the conflict of interest.

If there is to be no conflict of interest, then the broker cannot have a hand in determining the execution price. This doesn't mean "we don't care, we got our cut". What it means is making sure there are ample liquidity providers available for liquidity and price competition which will minimize slippage.

ROFL-again! How come Tradestation Platform locks up(this is ongoing complaint that has lasted YEARS!) Does someone "manually" unplug the extension chord to Server?-lol- The only change I can see with this "company" is now they have u on many forums-I wish u could fix the Pricefeed issue -that would lend credibility to most of your posts.

The Tradestation platform is not the problem. The feed is not the problem. The broker enacts intentional jitter pauses to balance the sink to the toilet. "The Book Balance twist" I have said this before... If you want to trade currecy as a die hard must. Open an account with a Futures Exchange traded Firm. it is and will be the only way to balance your interaction with the market. These days people just have to learn the hard way over and over again.

Jason I won't bash on ya. I don't know you and like everyone else here at FF, you deserve the same respect as any other poster...even more so perhaps knowing you're an FXCM rep and likely to get dished negative replies in your direction. Now I'm not going to side with anyone at this time. CurrencyAnalysis speaks many truths IMO.

What I really want to say to Jason or any other broker actually is why does slippage always happen against us but never in our favor? There is a "programmed" reason. That is why.

Hi 8fingers,

The recent technical issues posted in the forum were mostly from clients in Malaysia, Singapore and China that needed to use a public proxy to find a better connection to our server. We have a proxy setup through our Hong Kong office for this reason. The latency in the internet connection in some areas of the world will have an impact on the response time in receiving confirmations or possible rate pauses depending on the connection.

While I understand you haven't used the platform in 3 years, if you would like to try it (or anyone else) to give an honest assessment of its current reliability, you can setup a $25 micro account on us forexmicrolot.com/tradeshow.jsp

Lots of people bickering about FXCM.. I personally don't use them, but a member here on forexfactory uses them. and has multi million dollar contracts, and even trades news???

He doesn't have any complaints??

Open a small MT4 account with them yourself - Directly or through the Boston Bridge and you'll 'Get It' up the A$$ pretty quick!! - Most of these posts are related to MT4 usage. Just Like FXDD sucks BAD (Do Not Trade their MT4 under ANY circumstances) but their FXDD Currenex PowerTrader platform is the Scalper Gold Standard. (Even though the FXCM direct platfrom has LOW liquidity. I have No Idea why anyone with serious funds would trade with them instead of just trading with Dukascopy)

Jason,one of my first Forex experiences was with FXCM. I just cant stop thinking about the HUNDREDS of times I was "locked out" of the Tradestation platform during trading hours-almost always when I had an open trade. True-I could dial up the dealing desk to conduct business-but thats NOT the way to trade Forex. How about a 500. dollar account(can the top management afford this?)on the Tradestation2 platform? I keep all profits over initial deposit(500) and will trade the account for 90 days(a decent amount of testing time?). Of course you will have complete access to account at all times. I would give weekly(at most) updates on all my "issues" and put to bed once and for all my "unfounded" accusations of feed manipulation. (or confirm them forever?) I am up for the challenge-is FXCM? My main goal would be an honest report on FXCM's trading environment now-as compared with 3 years past. Call me- [email protected] anytime.

I support this, in Jan 2009 they given so many free accout to new traders to test FXCMMicro.... and i don't see negative feedback from those traders.
Looks like they are tradiing comfortable.

Some Old traders who had experiance some bad execution around 2 to 3 years back and left FXCM, still carry some negative thought about FXCM.

This is good chance for FXCM to show old FXCM traders, how much FXCM improved over last 3 years.

hey fulltime,

The free micro account is only available on the FX Trading Station II, but I will see what I can do.

Also, the minimum lot size on the MT4 accounts is currently a mini lot. Reason being is because it's completely NDD. We have 2 banks that will take micro lot trades directly on NDD execution, but micro lot execution would suffer for everyone if we put all micro lot order flow on it.

Progress is being made on getting more banks for micro lot NDD which will lead to micro lot trading on MT4. No exact time frame.
