i am new here on this page and i am a trader for 14 month now!
i did test a lot of strategies and i must say money management is the most important technik!i do use your posted strategie too.
unfortunatly i lost a lot of money with this strategie while shorting dow jones in spring and i gave up my positions on the highest point of the first wave in the beginning of june! a spike on good news !
but i must say meanwhile i learned a lot more of charts and it works better!also i use EUR/USD who is not just more calm and i can estimate the behavior better and most important the pair is not so much psychological effecting like indizes where you "think" how can they increase so much they must be a short!

I am sure you have heard time and again that there is no holy grail to trading, the best one can do is create an edge for themselves and hope they can slowly grow their account.
I have never traded indices but i doubt there is any profitable trader out there who has never blown an account especially at the beginning, its part of the learning curve.
Trading smaller lots allows you to last longer and learn in the process.
Always look at 4H and above for a clearer picture and you will be surprised at how the market serves up everything on a plate but we are all busy listening to noise on 5 minute charts.
Some drink at the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle !

But remember that if you are say long USD against EUR,GBP,AUD,NZD,CHF you are in essentially in the same trade but with a 5 times exposure and the double edged leverage sword comes into play.
I am currently also trading cross pairs too. Back to why am I also trading other pairs ? This is because when one pair such as EUR/USD is ranging, other pairs may be starting their new life after doing the same and offer new trading opportunities.
