I wonder how such wide risk:reward ratios would perform in some of the less volatile years (i.e. 2002 & 2005)...

I think that 15% of the box may be a little bit too close, but 25-30% and of course 50% is a a better proposition. Actually, Interseptor whom I found browsing at No Brainers thread can throw me some support. 40-50 pips stop losses are working just fine at that thread. It is quite reasonable stop loss IMHO and it is exactly 20-30% of the box on average.

Hello everyone,

I'm pro-noob in forex market, cuz i've started forex 2 month ago, and don't have enough knowledge about it. except forex fundamental (thanks to Darkstar)

I've just tried this breakout system today, i've cheacked past data. and for me i'll defiantly go with this system. exception is i'll come out of trade with tp1 box. or close my position at same price as opening.

There's always another box-breakout to go with, so if not this time, next time. but make sure no trade in loss. saving a penny is earning dollar for me.

thanks ACE for this wonderfull thing. and all of you to give your comments about this system. hope my $1500 forex account will be $1.5 B soon. Till that time let we all have Profitable trade.

Maybe you should post it and let many "common" traders help test it for you and make it great....... !!??

I have been thinking of coming back to multiple positions on my daily trading and then started thinking of how it might be useful for Ace's strategy.

Just a word of warning....you will probably lose your account if you trade Ace's system that way without some modifications.

I'm sure you've read the whole thread, so just remember that its the big winners that make this system

LoL, no there are no multiple positions. You take less trades with this variation then with the original 4H Box Breakout system.

i am afraid that what you claim is NOT right. for this system, at best, you may move SL to middle of box. only 36 pips? the system is dead, you might try.
If you read my posts, I said it was an experiment and had no idea whether it would work. If people choose to applaud or criticize, that's their choice.

Here's my thinking, and then maybe you can help me see the error of my ways. The creator of this thread has said that there are more losing weeks than winning weeks. If I remember correctly, the win pct. was around 40%. There are 52 weeks in a year. Let's assume that 22 of those weeks are winners. That leaves 30 losing weeks.

If the average box size is 150 pips, and I'm going to be losing 30 weeks, that's 4,500 pips in losses. If two trades are triggered in a week, the lost pips could be even greater. If, and I emphasize if, a 30% SL (45 pips) worked that would cut the losses down to 1,350 pips. That's a huge advantage IMO.

I think your point is that I will be taken out of winning trades due to the tight stop loss. You may be right. If that's the case, a simple adjustment of SL should help. You may be right that 50% is a better SL. But, that's the purpose of an experiment. As I said, I will post my results as always and everyone can form their own conclusions.

just to be sure about your idea, we look at the EMA200 applied to the 4H chart to decide the direction of the trade. If above the EMA200 only long trades, if below the EMA200 (of the 4H chart) only short trades.

Stop-loss is the TP1 of the other direction of the trade, actually 2 boxes, right ?
