ATr criteria is new to me as a toll in my trading.

I would benefit too with a bit of detail on this ATR stuff to enter a trade.

That is how I set up the EA.

I may manually change levels depending on key support/resistance/ pivot levels.

These are profit targets set in the EA.

Be=+2-3

Trailing stop=25 pips are are above pairs or more for the more volitile pairs ( the first three)

Question to Gleneagles and Indrek: Both have more knowledge on this ATR stuff ..
Q1. Is using the ATR indicator programmed kindly by I think it is either Royston or xecret where the font is really tiny with ADR in the indicator.....This indicator..... If ATR set to 6/36 and use the colour change enough eg green =high volitility to enter the trade.

Q2. Indrek: YOu did try and explain this ATR stuff in previous thread. How is the best way to determine the optimised ATR for each TF used. Still a biy confused on this.

Just for my personal educational in trading....

I have read about the Icumoto indicator and have a high respect for it.

never seen the MTF and various components version so neatly represented.

If you are allowed to...could you post this indicator on the thread.. Love to play with it for my own trading education .

I trade whatever I can and whenever I notice a signal.
Where I took the trade was the place where three blues lined up for the first time as earlier H1 blue was not confirmed.

Smaller arrows are for Trix 2,1,1,1 and bigger for Trix 3,1,1,1. My entry is always from M5.

I think that what I use is Glen's system in quite a pure form, although I have never had the purpose to copy anyone's system for 100 %. I am open to any ideas but I allow myself exceptions and adjustments whenever I see it necessary. And I change the details of my chart permanently.

Infact this is a better option as it has the 2x Ma to filter out higer probability trades. I have been playing with his indicator and sure enough it is better than the one being used. Filters alot of false treades with the 2xma facility.

I am using the Ma_1=8 and Ma-2 =32. Trix set to 3.

Indrek you used this indicator before... you should have it in your repertoire.
I used it earlier but why should I need an indicator that uses two MAs when I want one where MAs would be absolutely eliminated
I simply do not want any MAs any more as there is no need for confirmation of confirmation of confirmation

I vote to let all programmers who are coding for any indicators for this trix strategy post all versions on the thread rather than by private PM/private email. Many traders like myself do not have a special forex email box....

FF does not provide attachments facilities on the PM feature.

These forums are for encouranging discussion on strategy and relevant indicatrs to the stragegy.

To date.... Xescret has been asked to PM/email me with technical issues of the version of MTF_TRIX as it...
I have nothing against posting new indicators in the thread. But sometimes there are specific technical advices that can maybe given more effectively in direct communication between two people.

I use ATR 6/36, Glen uses 5/25, I sometimes look also at 6/1440.
This is just for estimating the volatility and for this purpose I look only at M5 chart as ATR 6/36 on H1 chart does not show anything reasonable.
If shorter period ATR is bigger than longer one then the volatility is good for trading.

Do you mean Ichimoku? Here it is.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is a default indicator in MT4.

Thanks for all the clarifications... I understand your thinking clearly and from where you are coming from...

the Ichimoku version on MT4 I know about... however there is a MTF version with a breakdown of component parts from Dan Johnston is what I would like to play with on my charts.

I used some components in my earlier trading. Like everything.... It makes more sense to me after more experience. Coming back to old stuff re-enforces many things which was not so claer in the early days.

I will put a two charts up to show a visual representation of using 1xMA vs 2xMA for the filter....

As we both know these are all suggestions /ideas and each trader is encouraged to work within their comfort zones and personal trading plan.

I trust that at least a few of you are trading MTF, demo or live?

Maybe you are still trying it out or maybe you are undecided about whether it works or not?

BTW I am not trading the Yen crosses until tomorrow. With the new government in Japan, I expected a lot of uncertainty and speculation that could impact the currencies. I did not really happen but rather safe than sorry.

I am trailing by 25 pips but my TP2 (final one) is set one pip before R1.
First profit was taken at 26 pips by my mistake Intended to take it at 12 pips but then switched between two computers and my EA reacted to this in a strange way... Luckily, a profitable way
