COG means Center of Gravity, and the theory is that things will return to the center, which is a logical assumption, because like a rubber band, when the tension becomes too great (the pair far away from the center), it is being pulled as if by the force of gravity back to the center. Trading in this fashion is really counter trend trading, because you're betting that the pair will move back to the center.
There are problems with this, which is that the center changes with the flow as time goes on. Like a MA, you have a "center" that changes. Obviously, what was the "center" of a pair last year, last week or even yesterday isn't what it is today. When you look at that COG thing, it looks really good, but the COG REPAINTS on a chart. It is just like the level 3 Semifor that repaints on a chart. I personally watched the level 3 Semifor repaint SEVENTEEN times on a 30 minute chart until it "got it right" and stopped.
Some people swear by that level 3 Semifor. to me, it's un-tradable.They contend when it appears, it signals a "possible" reversal. That's cool, except when the reversal doesn't happen, and the level 3 moves down to the next bar, and the next.
Looks mighty fine on a chart. So does the COG line. Some swear by em. I swear at em, and will never use them again in my life.They are unreliable and undependable. Usually when I say this, I get many responses from people who, like the poster, claims they are great. All I say is have at em. If you like to trade an indi that moves and twists like a snake, go for it.

Hey DX, i jus wanna say thanks homie..you really out did yourself this time..i respect your kindness.If you or Edge ever come to florida jus let me know and we will take a sail on the yatch and pour a shot,with alot of focus i am gonna make alot of money with this system.Edge thanks again man if you were a number you would a perfect ten.Guys whatever plan you trade no matter what jus believe and stick with it..this is what make trading so hard for alot of us we keep changing our trading plan every week,jus put a couple indi togather that suit you and make a plan(if A and B happen then i will do C ) stick with it seriously for three week(don't change a thing) and at the end of the three week jus check to see what works and what you need to adjust.Sorry for chatting so much i jus want to see everyone on here suceed.May God bless you all and have great weekend.

So to get this you need to change the Scalper Candles from 3 to 2 and the C4 Nitro Indi to 2,8,12 or 2,8,8 to get the "original settings" from Post#1

In the Pivot indi from the THV thread you need to set your GMT shift as needed. FXDD is...

I used to trade it like you also and swore at them until I realised that they are just resistance levels and with this system Edge developed I exit the trade on them and the same with COG I exit at the outer bands so the more it repaints the more I make. I actually want it to repaint!!! Everything has a reason its how you interpret it.

1.I don't understand why I see in the Info window Trix(M2) Up .
Isn't the Trix down ? or it's because we are having a white/bullish candle ?
2. Regarding smRenko signals_v3
my bricks are set to 10 , but the Brick lines are not showing the range correctly .

brick lines is because it is reading wicks on bricks as well probably same for trix m2 as well
I turned my brick lines off because i like the wicks they gives me a better feel of the price action. Swingman may be able to fix it so have version which works with wicks

trying to compare my chart with yours .
Your 5 possible entries are marked in yellow .
The time of each vertical line is the same , except the time difference hour (show the same minute !)...
BUT in my chart , I see FOUR more signals , and of course the HMA colour also changed .Those were corrections of the main trend .
Do u think it's due to data feeding ? any idea ?
The Mom(4) line looks similar .

As for me, I use a very simple approach as shown on page one.

Here is the EU chart I have for today. As of this posting, I see five trade possibilities shown by the verticle lines. It appears to me that each one is about as clean a setup as we could ask for. Also, the tally for these, in my opinion, is a clear +25 pip total based upon Nitro guidelines as set. Have the SM Scalper candles on Nitro as well just so as to eliminate the indicator redundancy issue.

I've used Constant Range Bars or CRBs for quite a while. They draw differently but bottom line is that with CRBs you get more side by side bars than with Renko charts of the same length. You need to use about a 20 pip CRB to model a 10 pip Renko due to the way the two charting types differ, but that will most accurately model the end of bars where you would be placing entries on either Renko or CRB with the Nitro pseudo-system. You'll get quicker signals on one charting type sometimes (for better or worse) and other times on the other, and you'll get some signals (good and bad) filtered out on one over the other. No clear winner.

It is important to point out that neither chart method is a holy grail or has an edge associated with it. How you use these charts is everything. But if someone doesn't have access to Renko and does have access to a Constant Range chart, the latter could be substituted for the former (20 pip CRB for 10 pip Renko). When the thread switched over to Renko excitement, I coded up Renko charts for my charting package. I like how they smooth the data to show the prevailing trend.

That being said, let's not get off focus with indicator searches or new and exciting bar charting searches. If you change your charting type, you really have to start from scratch fine tuning your indicators, and that can be an endless futile cycle if it becomes the main focus. Best bet is to focus on what really affects system performance: the underlying logic of the strategy and how to improve the returns in that area.

Hi DX...great work with your dashboard...I have only a little issue if you can correct it...

If you watch my image...your dashboard is too big and if i keep opened 4 charts...i can't see the detonator (the 3 lines in the bottom of the dashboard)....i have to open the chart and this is an issue when markets are moving fast...
So...perhaps you can make dimensions customizable...or in alternative...you can put the detonator in the highest part of the dashboard, under the pair price...what do you think??

Following DX post #5733 ...I have placed on the same chart HMA & LWMA . If I look only at Friday's chart , I like more how LWMA looks . When there is a trend I like the bars to close bellow/above MA .Look at the downtrend starting with candle #1 ...I can see only 4 candles closing bellow HMA .I can see 2 areas #1,#2 where I would not have looked for a long based on the Trix arrow as the LWMA was red.
Would like to hear your opinion about :
1.HMA vs. LWMA
2. Does it make any sense to place both of them ?
3. Trix signals vs. C4 Nitro Indi signals
Can someone explain about the HMA...why in strong trends the candles don't close above/below the MA .
I am aware that I can not come to any conclusion based on one single day/chart

Allow me to chime in.
This whole thing boils down to quality signal generation as it relates to ,in my opinion, high-order stats.

The underlying problem here, clearly is kurtosis.
Folks are mitigating it by:
a)Only taking a 'slice of the pie'... 5/10 pip tp's
b)'Trading in the zone'...manually identifying high quality set ups.
c)A gent by the name of 'GlenEagles' has proposed an ATR aug. which in and of itself is a great step towards further refinement of high quality signal generation via manual beta volatility controllers.
I've noticed it has indeed been adopted by Edge into this methodology.

The renko or 'Japanese binary' is just another manual smoothener.
The 'Trix' is nothing more than a momentum gauge.

I think folks here have all the tools needed to be to proficient at this methodology regardless of experience.
Though, I must say in my humble opinion, this is a momentum strategy.

Hi All,

Just read most of the thread. I also want to thank Edge for explaining his method, and all others who contributed to this thread.
Next week i'm going to try this method.
But is still got a question: When everything is ok (primer, charger, detonator) en we can hit the ignitor, do you people use a script to place the trade or are you place the trade by hand?

The HMA (Hull Moving Average) lags less than a traditional MA which is why it turns quicker and follows both short and long term trends. The settings of 8,3,3 have been explained earlier in the thread by 4xtrader2 and explain how to change them and why. The 8 is the period and the 3,3 correspond to type of ma (simple, weighted, exponential) and the other is the price type (low, close, high, etc.) I believe Edges settings work well there is no reason to not adjust them to what you feel comfortable with.

Got to be the data feeds.

Also, even with your charts showing 'extra' signals, they each seem to be good for a few pips. Why not just take them? This is just a numbers game anyway.
