I mostly follow usdnok on higher TF because of the high spread. Stronger oil have strengthen both NOK and CAD (both currencies are correlated with oil) lately.

And don´t forget last weeks USD decline (DXY) because of the US credit rating. The dollar has weakened against all currencies.

Shorting at the tops is the safest way with the USDNOK.

Better to go short/sell on USDNOK. But not right now. Wait to it gets up to 6.50

Why don't you just trade USD/NOK and GBP/USD together to create a synthetic trade. Not perfect but worth a shot. I used to do it when wanting to trade ZAR/JPY for a carry trading. If you want to go long GBP/NOK you could buy GBP/USD and buy USD/NOK. Or vice versa if you want to short GBP/NOK. Not perfect, but you could test it.

Are you watching anything in particular for GBP/NOK besides oil? Even then the correlation still looks pretty good. See chart attached.

True Jason... but too much hassle I like keeping it simple The essence of trading

Update: Just shorted the EURNOK. The NOK is too weak agains the Euro. Also this is a SR zone.

Also... I´ve tried several overlay filters for MT4. But I didn´t find any evidence that NOK follow or leads in the correlation. AFAIK it´s just a gamble

What time scale are you trading on? The daily swings in EUR/NOK past couple of days are huge. Low pip value, but still.

Daily, but I keep an eye on 3h for strong SR zones also.
I never let profit turn into a looser. Bag the profit! Better for my nerves.

Had been watching the USD/NOK over the past couple of days waiting for a short. But doesn't look like it's developing into a short position if it breaks through the resistance.

I agree that 6.60 and is a strong S/R zone. 6.25/6.30 is a strong S/R zone. Any move around those areas will trigger buy/sell.

I´m not a particular fan of trend lines... more a Supply and Demand guy. Supply and Demand can create trendlines and channels though.

Hi all

I´m a Forex Newbie but I´m interested in possibilities of going short USDNOK, especially on hearing a recommendation on Bloomberg

The roll over rate looks good (or 'interest' as I use Oanda) and appears to be in a nice downtrend on the daily. Any thoughts/advice? And any advice as the best source of eco info on Norway, especially their fiscal stimulus?

Check out the 15 year history for USDNOK here: http://www.findata.co.nz/Markets/Sto...REX/USDNOK.htm

Norwegian numbers are really strong, and Norway will probably increase the key policy rate late this fall, so there are a good chance of a stronger NOK. Most of this NOK strength could already be found so keep an eye on the US Dollar Index also. (See picture, Dollar Index in red, or go to: http://www.netdania.com/Products/liv...rtStation.aspx )

My personal opinion would be to wait for the USDNOK to go up, and ride the downward trend again.
