Looks very interesting Anne, is this something that can be shared? Or is this not possible as it is incorporated into Renko?

I only started using Renko charts a few days ago and I am a big fan as I really like the "noise" being filtered out of the charts, it makes mechanical and objective trading much easier.

Those are some very pretty diamonds. I'm awaiting delivery of my Renko bars. I suspect there's no instructions of how to turn them into diamonds, but will be fun figuring it out.

This compares heiken (5min) and renko chart on the vt platform.
Let me know if there is any problem or is this as good as the MT script version.

Hi Andy

This is a critical point. As I have said on a number of occasions, there are ONLY two sorts of indicator:

INTEGRATORS - which generally sit on the main chart (like moving averages etc). They integrate the price, ie, smooth it, but at the penalty of some lag.

DIFFERENTIATORS - which generally sit in a separate window (like RSI, CCI etc). The differentiate the price and hence oscillate around some value like 0 or 50.

This why I have never bothered with the indicators on this thread. A while ago I wrote two indys, a General Purpose Integrator, and a General Purpose Differentiator. No matter what indy anyone posts, I can imitate it easily just by setting a few parameters in mine. I actually only have those two in my indicators folder now!!

Indys that SMOOTH like MA etc are essentially low-pass filters that remove HIGH FREQUENCY components. Thus, they introduce phase shifts which can be misleading for trading.

Renko is a completely different and unique idea. It neither integrates nor differentiates in the true sense. What is does is to remove LOW AMPLITUDE components at high frequency. Thus, it only suffers from JITTER NOISE, not PHASE NOISE.

Mathematically, this is much easier to deal with - hence my adapted Renko system. This system has no lag and does not repaint. I have high hopes for it!

But of course, if the "mathematics is useless for trading" camp are correct, then it probably won't work! LOL!

It is amazing, possibly even unheard of... but we don't have to "trust Edge's story".

He has offered it for peer review. We can all try it out and see what the outcome is. If none of us can replicate his thousand trades winning streak, we would be justified in asking Edge for further information/advanced lessons.

It would help in this process if Edge were to, at least, give us the currency pair and the start and finish dates for his simulation. We may assume that he is using a 10 pip Renko brick, but what rules is he using to enter and exit?

I have already benefited enormously from this thread and am grateful to Edge, SwingMan, TudorGirl and others for their contributions. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how the Nitro chapter evolves next week!

I will attempt to help.
Initially, you may be starring at great kurtosis risk.( an outlier, where your 2 bar loss gets hit 3 times in a row, causing tremendous anguish and a general loss of morale).
It's not impossible, though. It's a convexity problem. Try broadening your time horizon for starters.

Just an impartial observation.

I'm with FX Solutions and while I like them as a broker, I find their AccuCharts psychotically difficult to learn how to use. Just downloaded AC and did a search .. can't find renko under any name. Do you know how to find it in AC?

I have the proper version from mql services but was curious to check another source for comparison purposes.

From what I can tell from their documentation it is a chart type, the same way you would change from bar, to candle, to line, etc.

He already shared an XLS of the trade station output for the trades. He also said he has already given us everything we need to be successful with this. I have been looking at his screen shots, places his entries and exits on my renko chart (10 tick) and been playing around with different things to see if I can replicate what he is using for entries. We know the exit is 10 pips (I believe). He mentioned it's been running 24/7 for many month, only the last 2 months was no losses.

If it's been running 24/7 (or 24/5 I guess), one would assume 1 of two things; it's either completely mechanical, or every time it's gives an entry signal he jumps from whatever he is doing and decides whether to enter or not.

The trix and the ranko bars I have are giving a very high win rate, however the losses are at least twice the size of the winners, so I am trying to figure out if there is a workable solution for that problem.

All in all, I don't think he is just going to hand us exactly what he is doing. He has said that already. I'm going to try and figure it out, whatever help or direction he wants to give is most welcome, but as it stands I have the start of a 'system' that I am comfortable with (still not so sure of trix, but I have used it enough with THV to have a little faith in it).

My goal is to try and create something as mechanical as possible, with the least amount of discretion required, because frankly I am the weak link in my trading right now, and the less of my involvement in trade to trade decisions, the better...

I've watched with great attention the image of nitro...and i think that the "secret" if we can call it a secret...is the timing in the TRIX triggering.
I don't think that there is any MA...just PA and TRIX, if you watch the image you can easily see that he enters the trade in the very 1st bar when TRIX gives signal, not the 2nd bar (2nd bar can be too late).
So...this is my opinion:

1) Renko bricks have to do a reversal (1 brick in the opposite direction)
2) If we see that TRIX is going to cross 0 line...we prepare our plunger...
3) A new renko brick opens and TRIX is over 0 line...we push the plunger!!
4) If we know that any brick is 10 pips...we take, as Edge says, a "portion" of that brick...it could be...5 pips (why not?) with a highest lots size ("less is more")...
That's it...

How many times in a day can you do that?? Watch the charts....and you will be surprised....

I think i don't need to repeat what Edge says every day...but why are you trying to gain 10/15/30 pips????? You only need 5...or less to make money, with a highest probability.

Obviously this can't work fine 100% of times.....but in this thread there are so many examples for the fact that some traders can gain day by day with this strategy...

Just my opinion.....with respect for others...

They may be useless to trade for you, but it will be a good indicator to see if the commercial script for MT4 is working properly.

Instead of posting such a lame declaration, if you read the posts from the first page, if you take Edge's trade log (which I have) and verified whether the trades match the charts [his trade log is for Tradestation which I actually use as well], and if you take the time to set up the trading system and trade it live, then you would not have to write such mindless statements; you would have just peer reviewed his work.

I have done all of the above and I can agree that Edge's system is very workable, usable, and most of all profitable. He is a rare breed who actually "pays it forward".

Challenge: Can you post your trading log/system with the same or better results? Hmmm, I thought so. Jealousy and envy don't make you profits.

I don't think you can "know" when it's about to cross. From the few hours I watched Renko charts on Friday there was no price movement like you see with time based charts. Once price moved 10 pips above or below the last high/low, a new bar was painted, and the trix was what it was at that point. There is no movement whatsoever while the price is doing it's thing within the 18 odd pips range before it reaches the 10 needed to paint a new bar.

I never said I was going for 30 pips! Or 15 for that matter. And if you look at the EXCEL that edge posted, you would see he goes for 10 pips.

I was not referencing at you when i told "10/15/30 pips"...but in general speaking...

I've quoted your post only to connect my post with the analysis of renko....


I've tried to trade like i said in my post last Friday...and i can tell you that i can suppose what the TRIX will do... i see where is the last renko candle, i see where is the closing price and i see the actual price...so i can suppose where (the price) a new candle will start...and if i watch TRIX i can suppose if it will cross 0 line or not...

This is only what i can see...i can be totally wrong!!!!!!! i repeat...with maximum respect for others opinions...
