its very interesting try only long and only short positions. EA shows shorts more proffitable

1- the backtesting in 2009 : 5k became 26 k modeling 90% and 45 % draw down
2- backtesting in 2008 failed , it wiped the account in the first 3 month of 2008 for sure i backtest it with 5 k maybe it should be more the original balance since the lot is 1 . i will try later with higher balance
NB: . i tried with 10 k and still it wipe the account in MARS 2008 .

you right, beggining of 2008 year is really hard for this system, but maybe we'll be able to avoid such bed periods using some indicators? As Ace was suggesting, I was looking at ATR (weekly), and at the beginnig of 2008 ATR was more or less on the same level like now - maybe it could be a warning for us to use smaller position?
I think we can try to connect profitability of this system with weekly ATR, last 8-10 months when this system was extremly profitable, ATR was extraordinary huge. What you think aobut that?

Hi...

Can anyone help by posting data for forex.com for the 4H GJ that we are trading.

Mine seems a little corrupted and incomplete as I cannot seem to run back test and optimization.

I would prefer a simple download and upload with all the conversions. I am not pc literrate. Still wet behind the ears

maybe you are right , i will backtest it using this filter . and will let u know , did u try to filter it this way ? what u think the atr should be 4 times the box for example ?

i didn't test it, but we need a closer look on it. Box multiplier, and ATR was introduced by Ace, but i didn't have time for testing those solutions. Using any TP or SL during good periods strongly lowers our profit, but maybe during raging periods could save our account. Later i attach EA with SL, and reentering, so everybody could test it.
Maybe when will come hard times for GJ (in my opinion it's just a matter of time), we find other pair which become profitable? For the time being GJ works excellent, but it could be nice to find other which could work on it. I'm not sure if should use EJ, when there are no bigger divergence beetwen them.
Isn't it better to open bigger position on GJ than using EJ? I didn't test it, but i'am not sure if there are a lot of weeks when GJ looses and EJ winners.

i tested EJ , where gj lose ej lose too . and the profit on GJ as per testing is higher

Well crappy week this week so far. I was tempted to close out with some profit both on the long and the short but I decided to let them run as per the orignal concept except for placing the Break Evens. It is Wednesday now and I am not sure I will set a new pending. That may be a mistake but without an EA to watch it, I think I will error on the side of caution.

Breaking Even for the week of OK.

This is really great stuff. Thank you. It is important that a re-entry of a Pending order at say 25 pips from the SL close, is moved to the SL price plus 10 pips as soon as possible.

I like the idea of actually not sending a pending order. Rather have it in the EA as a market order when the conditions are met. That way you don't have to use the 25 pip pending order

I'm not sure how you would code this but essentially what I want to do is re-enter my original trade in the same direction if a reversal has hit my SL and closed my position. Obviously we don't want to re-enter immediately. We need the price to either move past the SL by x pips before our EA is ready to trigger a new trade in the same direction as the original trade if it hits SL less 10 pips to cover the cost of re-entry

The problem is that the market price, very shortly after hitting our SL, may continue back in the original direction. We are out of the market which we may not want to be. Therefore, if price resumes past the SL by X pips, then re-enter.

Does that make sense.

I agree with your last statement completely. I only trade GJ. It is the big mover and I would rather place more money on it but try and contain the beast with SL, BE etc. Somewhere in our mix we will have the right settings. These EA's are a Godsend.

I have not had a lossing week with how I am trading this manually so far. Came close this week but the beast still ran enough but not nearly as far as we would like. It at least gave me a BE opportunity for the week preserving my past winnings.

Yes, I think you have it. I just replied privately to oromek as follows:

Thanks so much for doing this. It really helps. I don’t have a lot of time today to do any in depth analysis of the EA but one very important point.

The re-entry buffer is not understood by most people. My goal is to have a re-entry (NOT 25 pips away from the SL exit). The 25 pip pending is only temporary so I don’t miss out on a really strong return of market price in the original direction.

Let me give you an example:

Say I enter a LONG on my original pending order. I have set a breakeven at 50 pips and I have a 100 pip trailing stop loss. Say the price runs up for 200 pips and then reverses. It goes back down to 100 pips and my SL closes the trade. Ideally, I want to re-enter a Pending Order at 100 pips so I don’t lose any money but I can't do that right away. What do I do? If the market price immediately goes back up, I am out of the market. Not good. So I immediately place a new Pending Long order at 25 pips above my close (at 125 pips) and catch the uptrend again but I am missing 25 of the profitable pips but at least I am back in the market.

Now let’s say the market continues down to 50 pips. I want the EA to move the Pending order from the 125 pip mark down to the close of 100 pips so I re-enter at my original SL close if the market goes back up. Further, I am suggesting that we move the new Long pending order a further 10 pips lower to cover the cost or re-entry (spread plus slippage and/or commission). Therefore we are now sitting with a new pending order at 90 pips. Should the market come back, I re-enter the long trade and run with it using the same system. 50 (or whatever) pips to BE and the original trailing SL. For re-entries, I would like to have new variables for re-entry SL, BE and Trailing Stops as I may want to make these tighter as we have already made a partial run or it is getting late in the week

Man, this stinks Im trading pretty much as per original system on post #1 and this week is bad. Long has been stopped out and looks like short will be as well, unless something miraculous happens end of the week.
Hope this isnt a new long term change in the market trend for gy / ey =(

looking at the charts, this week had been mostly side way compare to strong trends of last few weeks. This is my first week of trading this system. I still made over 400 pips this week. so can't complain.

Congrats! You must have been trading an adaptation of this system, because the original system hasn't earned 400 pips this week. All the same, well done.

I don't know how you got that 400 pips but i followed the stretegy to the letter and i am down at the moment close to 200 pips.Can you please post your entry and exit so as to be able to correct what i did wrong.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I made my pips beaucse I closed most of my postion on G/J, A/J, CAD/J, CHF/J and U/J on TP1. Also moved my SL when price moved to half way mark betweek entry and TP1. My AIM is to protect capital, I might not win but I will definately not lose anything, and that is very important to me.
Next week I will move to TP1 & TP1, but I will always move SL to BE as early as possible.
I know it is not following the system correctly, but this give me peace of mind to trade without stress.

Thanks, this week is not as bad as some traders want us to believe. Though prices have been sideways, nonetheless opportunities exist.
And this should serve as a lesson to traders: whatever system you are offered, you have to modify it to suit your original system, if it deosnt suit then dump it, and if you dont have a system of your own, please try and make one. thank you
