Backtesting. Good News.

I am currently running Jason's version 2 in a Strategy Tester only on data since June 1, this year to now..

I am running many steps on all the variables so it says it going to take 47 hours to complete. It has currently completed only 254 interations of the potential 11,000 interations to be completed but I am already seeing over 22 settings that have produced profits between 75% to 270% using only 1 lot on a $10k test account with no money management so the lots are staying the same size throughout the test. Compounding will have a huge effect but that is not built in yet. That is on my request list.

I realize this is curve fitting but I always look at groupings. What I mean by that is if you look at the "Optimization Graph" tab of the Strategy Tester, if there is a dark green setting in the middle of light or white settings it means this particular setting is unique and really is curve fitting as all the settings near it are bad.

If you have many good settings all around and spreading out from the best setting, you can be more confident that this setting is more valid for future trading.

I noticed an error in the code for the short orders when using the box size as stop loss and tp. Looks like some of the code for the buy was copied but not modified. I'm not at home now so I can't quote the exact line. But after changing it, it ran fine.

I would, however, like to see a max number of trades in a week, if possible.

I just wanted to comment that I am an Engineer by training. I am hoping that just because two people in this thread are working on programming an EA simultaneously that anyone thinks that is a bad thing or thinks this is a competition in anyway.

I can tell you I have worked on many many very technical projects where several highly skilled and very vocal and intelligent people were working separately but ultimately, together, such that the end result was significant (actually spectacular).

Both Ron and Jason are providing separate EA's but without their individual perspectives and approaches we would have much less. I am hoping no one decides to pit one of our very generous programmers against the other. These guys are contributing for free and with huge talent.

NO ONE has suggested otherwise, but I just wanted to make this clear from the beginning. From my personal perspective, both these guys are integral to the final result of what we want to acheive with Ace's method.

As I have said before, I love this method. All I want to do, is make sure we minimize the loses and maximize the profits (keep the winners running). That is FUNDAMENTAL forex trading (actually trading of any kind).

I just finished reading the thread this weekend. Really great and answered
most all the questions I had.

I know there are variations on the "time" of the first candle depending on the broker and personal preference. I am on est and was wondering if anyone else out there uses the 5-9pm (or 5-8pm) candle as the first candle of the week? Or do you use the midnight- 4am est?

Just watching the price action it looks like the long trend may still have some traction.

You most likely are right, and that's generally how I speed up programming.

I couldn't agree more. I am watching this thing and if it breaks seriously north it could have a good run.

I am watching Kang's indicator and other indicators I can't share and the JPY is really really soft against all other currency's.

Lets hope for a strong run here. Countdown minus 20 minutes

Yes I'm watching the RS Group relative strength indicator and JPY is weaker. Also see major JPY weakness almost across the board on another indicator.

I had an entry at 155.10. Just changed it. With Ace's method, a few pips here or there is nothing. I will give up 5 pips if indeed, the upside movement wins on this open.

I love this system. Thanks again Ace. God how many times do I have to say that. Lots I hope.
