I think both TG & SwingMan said that Trix doesn't repaint, so the zero cross over arrow/pointer shouldn't move either.

If your new MT4 did you try the help box within MT4? It has a lot of useful info.
Goes into very detailed info on using specific indicators that are preloaded with MT4 as well.
Swingman may not answer basic MT4 usage questions, but Edge has many times in the past so if you read this thread starting from page one you'll probably find your answer.

I had this idea and it is a good one. I even went one step further and thought of adding a MTF Semafor for the higher timeframe also. Then we would have MTF Semafor and MTF TRIX, but unfortunately it killed my platform or PC with the resource requirements.Definitely something to work on though.

I do not need more than 1-2 trades per pair per day. I need few trades that are good.

I backtested it for last week:
EURUSD - 5 trades, total result +102 pips
GBPUSD - 8 trades, +348 pips
AUDUSD - 6 trades, +151 pips
EURJPY - 5 trades, +133 pips
GBPJPY - 9 trades, +500 pips

NB! These are trades that could be taken btw 5 and 14 GMT.

When reading my posts, you just have to remember that I am not talking about scalping. I never scalp, I never did and I never will.

Hi

SwingMan Your smSuper TRIX_MTF indicator is great and I have little question - because You publish only ex4 files so I cannot modify it myself - could You change the orders of buffers - right now the first buffer is trix line and when I set 2 next lines to width 4 then they override the trix
If you could switch buffer 0 with 3 this could be great

I know it's little silly but ...

The Trix can "repaint", if you want to call it that, on the SAME candle. If you sit and watch it on a 5 minute candle, you'll sometimes see the arrow appear for awhile, and then disappear as the price moves. Let's say on a downtrend 1.5100 makes the trix arrow appear on the current candle. If price goes back up to 1.5101 or higher, the arrow disappears. If you're looking at a history chart and see the trix arrow or color change on a 15 minute chart, you don't know when that occurred. Was it at the start of the candle? In the middle, or near the end?
Once that candle is closed out, as long as the trix arrow was lit, it will not disappear after the candle close.
When you do a visual backtest using the trix arrows, it can be somewhat deceptive. If, for instance you plan on making an entry when the 15 minute and 30 minute candles are the same, and just look at a historical chart, you really have to figure at the NEXT candle in planning any strategy based on historical trix bars colors. This is because the color change could have come near the end of the candle, and because the trix arrow (price change) can go on and off DURING the candle. If you're trading off a 15 minute chart, and pounce on the trade as soon as the trix change, you could be in a trade too early. The price could reverse, and that trix arrow that was lit on that candle would then turn back off. The match of the 15 minute and 30 minute that WAS there when you made the trade is no longer there.
The solution? Either wait awhile until price goes further in the same direction or trade after the candle close. In either case, you won't be getting in at the optimum moment that you see on the screen which is at the START of the first candle. You'll be getting in at some point during that particular candle, or after it closes.
This is how you'd have to do a visual back test, which is to figure entries after the candle close. Figuring you would always enter at the first appearance of the arrow will skewer your results and make for overly optimistic plans of any strategy.

You only take trades from the 15 min charts or do you step down to the 5 min for your entries?

Here's a little something you might consider adding I found the info under MT4's help box, not that you need any help at this point, I think you could help mentor a lot others that aren't doing as well as you:

" The fractal needs to be filtrated with the use of Alligator. In other words, you

should not close a buy transaction, if the fractal is lower than the Alligator’s

Teeth, and you should not close a sell transaction, if the fractal is higher

than the Alligator’s Teeth. After the fractal signal has been created and is in

force, which is determined by its position beyond the Alligator’s Mouth, it

remains a signal until it gets attacked, or until a more recent fractal signal

emerges. "

Great info in the MT4's Help box, but I must admit I never really used it before until my 6yr daughter pointed it out to me.

I tested manually. I noticed that 2*ATR(14) should be enough as after these signals price usually did not move to the wrong direction more than for some pips.
Best exit is like I already said in one of my previous posts - when MTF PV (H1) changes colour.
If you want to take only a few pips then the same 2*ATR(14) is ok, I guess.

As about the Alligator - I used it for quite a long time. It did not work for me. I just like to see highs/lows, that is why I have Fractals on my charts. They are also very good for setting SL for longer term trades.

Hi Guys,
Trust all are well as we rest up over the weekend from trading last week.
There are some very talented programmers here on this C4 thread. I very much appreciate the efforts that are so freely shared here on the forum.

I was doing a bit of web surfing for a certain Trix Indy and have been unable to find it in MT4 thus far. I posted this request on the TSD forum as well as they do alot of work with MT4 there too.

I wondered, if maybe, anyone here knows of this indicator or perhaps could create it if it currently does not exist for MT4.
The four screen shots I've included show the Trix Reversal Indy and how it is employed. I think it to be a Tradstation setup/chart or...?

It looks very useful as a trend change identifier. As such, the use of it here with the C4 Scalper method seems like a perfect fit. The primer and detonator are very clearly defined by PA and the Trix.

Edge, SwingMan, Anne, please have a look and post your opinion, positive or negative, as to the merit of this indicator for our purposes here on the C4.

If anyone can help out with coding or identifying where to obtain this Trix Indy it would be most appreciated.

Hi Cliff

This indy looks much like the one Swingman made that changes colour on the peaks. You can get it from the paperclip. I think it is the one that ends in "---PV" but I am not sure.
