Hi,
I am looking forward to Ronald having the time to do an ea for this idea.
If at all possible could it be made so that it could be used to reverse the buys/sells from another ea... AND reverse the buys/sells from user input also.
I would like to run this from one demo to another, as i want to 'anti trade'
ie trade randomly (not ea) and without restriction, over trading and martingaling so that one demo account will blow and the other account will collect.

I'm working out the finer programming-side details...

So far:

 

  1. Reverses trades based on magic number.
  2. SL/TP figured out and reversed
  3. Trade-Tracking (Order Ticket in the comments)

It's just a matter of converting to code.

Hi Ronald,

Firstly congratulations on your post at RBS, well done.
Just wondering if you have still got the time to complete this ea ie
(one that reverses user inputted trades) now that you don't have that much time to devote to traders on FF?
Please let me know, either way, as I would love to test this out.

Sorry for the long delay everyone.

This should do the trick.

You set the lot size on the signal EA to the lowest possible.
You set the lot size on the receiver EA to the size you want + the lot size on the signal EA.

You set MagicNumberToCopy equal to the magic number of the signal EA
MagicNumber must be different between the signal EA and the receiver EA.

The way the EA works is simple enough.

To open a trade:
The EA cycles through every open signal order and compares the order's ticket with the trade comment (which has the ticket# that the trade is trying to copy). If the EA detects that there is no ticket with a matching trade, then a trade is opened.

To close a trade:
The EA cycles through every open receiver order and compares the order comment's ticket value with the ticket value of all the signal trades. If the EA detects that there is no ticket with a matching trade, the trade is closed.

I admit this is quickly thrown together, so expect this to be a very bug-ridden bit of code.

Just from your introduction though, what if the EA's used for signaling and receiving do not have/use magic numbers?

For the current feedback will find ones with magic numbers. One Step at a Time… I say Just one step at a time

The idea is to have a utility EA that will be able to take the signal from one EA, for instance EA1 generate a Sell signal with SL1 = 63 and TP1 = 109, neglecting spread charges and the time to execute the signal; reverse it (which may lead to slippage). We should be able to replicate the opposite signal or trade. That is, on another, EA2 produce a received signal, a buy, with SL2 = 63 and TP2 = 109.

Effectively the entire trade and its characteristics, mainly its reward to risk ratio, in this example 109/63 = 1.73 will be preserve. Only the direction (short changed into long) would have been changed.

Critically, if we simply switched only the direction and not preserved the reward to risk ratio, we would end up with a situation where, in our example we would have had a ratio of 63/109 = 0.58, in our new buy signal. Over time this means we would be risking a lot more than we would be gaining (on or reversed signals or opposite trades), ultimately blowing our account.

The application here, on the surface is with a consistently non-performing EA, we could in some wise be able to trade those signals profitably.
The trick would be to find an EA that consistently looses more than it gains, and in sufficient magnitude to leave a profit after :
(a) Magnitude reduction due to the inherent latencies between initial signal and the production of the opposite trade; the reproduce signal will in all likelihood be smaller than the first
(b) Catering for brokerage fees and slippages
(c) Need an EA that when reversed produces gains of 20 or more to take cake of slippage and charges on even the more exotic of crosses.

So! in a nutshell, we start at the level for signaling between EA's on the same account but as we work the bugs and kinks out, we may be able to treat an entire account this way.

The ideas I have, the means of translating them to reality (programming) I don’t, so Sir Ronald Ragun, you have been a blessing and we hope others of like mind will find the idea sufficiently challenging to make it a reality.

regarding the reversing of the trades, cannot mention a commecial product here ( FF Rule #3) so Still testing the same method. May have to PM for specifics. How about the others you were arare of have you tried any?

I ma trying but the opposite EA is not openning any orders, I have matched the magic-number-to-copy with the magic number on the signal EA and created a magic number for the opposite EA as told, but it does not work.

Can anyone help me out with this?

For any other programmer who is looking to experiment, here's the general theory of the EA:

Trade Opening

  1. Cycle through all opened Trades
  2. If a trade's magic number matches the magic number being searched for...

    1. Open a new trade opposite to the original trade
    2. Set the new trade's comment to the order ticket number of the old trade.

  3. Go to 1

Trade Closing

  1. Cycle through all EA-owned trades (trades opened by the Opposite EA).
  2. For each trade, scan every other trade and see if there is a match between a trade's orderticket number, and the ticket number stored in the comment.

    1. If there is no trade found, close the copied trade.

  3. Go back to 1

RR . you are not trying to ... try a bit... overhauling (dont know much abt it though)..
but may be it gets over fast!

Ok.... as a temporary babysitter... what abt PseudoOpposite EA...
that just does the following
1) Reverses Buy to Sell
SL of Buy to TP of Sell
TP of Buy to SL of Sell

2) Reverses Sell to Buy
SL of Sell to TP of Buy
TP of Sell to SL of buy

That would be easy
(yes this is no way perfect RR ratio.this will work too for one purpose)
