Title says it all, i've been using Odl metatrader which is mostly ok but decided to try Fxpro and Alpari Uk and both of them have an extra digit on the end of their prices, is this the way all Mt4 brokers are going now ?

Or maybe there's something i can do within Mt to get it back to 4 digits ?

Seems that way. One MT broker following the other.
My broker isn't an MT broker and I hope they don't follow the masses.

I use FXPro and have an EA . No issues with performance at all. Works fine all the time(when their connection is up). I programmed the EA and it is not coded one way or other(no ability to tell whether 4 or 5 digit). I dont use any other MT4 Broker(yet).

I have been using 5 digit mt4 brokers but I feel nicer with 4 digit mt4 brokers.
5 digit misled me many2 times.

I used to use northfinance now fxpro for charting.
but since they changed to 5 digits, i dumped my account there and into fxdd.

5 digits is misleading/confusing.. very difficult to check the prices on mt4 platforms because the last 5th digit is as big as the rest.. On ECNs, the fractional pip is shown/displayed in smaller font - much easier to see

Ok thanks for the replies, if they're all going to 5 digits it's gonna get very confusing like Satni said, maybe that's the idea !

Just ignore the last digit and you have the 4 digit price. Just an excuse to get away from competitive pricing. Now noone knows what they are really getting and they can fight over who offers the lowest price. You no longer have price competition because you have no idea how often or how long they will run the higher pip prices.

Hi All

I'm not a coder, but with so many Mt4 brokers going to 5 digits, isn't it just a matter of time before MetaQuotes Software comes up with a 5 digit release?

regards all

Mhhh.. mind to explain? I don't see any correlation... isn't metaquotes software are just industry software not brokers?

So just to understand this better, is there ANY way I can make my MT4 to display 4 digits only? either by software hack or a complaint letter to my broker requesting them to change my platform to 4 digits?

Is this possible?

Thanks.

Reza.

Hello, All

Glad to find this topic. Totally agree with the above folks! I very hate 5 decimal too because it is so difficult to evaluate my decision to open or close my trade.

I am using IBFX. But the so bad news is they will become 5 decimal broker. And I already freeze my money into my account (2 reasons to support me to freeze my money: 1. Scare 5 decimal, & 2. The stupid hedge trade prohibit for NFA brokers). Now, I am already took a few months to look for another one honest broker which locate outside of USA.

I had been consider to move my money to pfgbest broker. But I cannot accept their horrible slow customer response, slow server, and concern about USA broker too.

Nowadays, it is not easy to find one honest and stable broker. :-(

I've been using 5 digit ECN for a while now and now I know why they offer it now. You can place deals between the normal spread and have fractional rather than whole number spreads. Like eur/usd could be either 1.0 or 1.5 spread on a 5 digit broker, but the 4 digit broker would give you 1 or 2 and pocket the 0.5

5 digits is a good thing.

Hi, I am new to this forum but also find the 5 digit display hard to think with "in real time". It makes it slower to compute channel height and distance to support and resistance lines.

Does anyone know of a 4 digit price indicator that would display many price labels on the chart, just to the left of the standard price display? This would be something like Zen's indicator (with its various incarnations). I am thinking of drawing many labels to match the existing price label but just show 4 digits for the non JPY pairs, and show 2 digits for JPY pairs.

Are the price axis price labels available as an array of prices? It would be most consistent to show matching labels.

A variation would be to show labels that always end in a certain # of pips. E.g. I want to see the price labels every 5 or 10 pips. I think that would make rough calculations visually easier and faster.

Can the scale be programmatically controlled?

I am using Alpari and MT4. I programmed one indicator 2 years ago so I should be able to do this...

I agree the sub-pip pricing is good for valuing trade entries and exits. But I'd like to use chart displayed round pip pricing labels for entry and exit points.

All you need to do to display 4 digits on the right is to drag the top bar of your window to the right so the last digit is no longer on your screen.

You can then extend the left window frame to fill in the left gap.

No need for any complicated programming. KISS principle

Cheers
