Well *I* think the single best book right now is "Mastering the Trade". Combine that with "Day Trading the Currency Market" and "Technical Analysis for the Currency Market" for a good library on fundamental and technical analysis.

You'll need other books for the money management and psychology though.

Another thing you should do though is check out the Vegas system here. I'm still absorbing it.

I think you should consider Kathy Lien's new book on forex. I have'nt read it myself, however, I heard it's a great forex trading book for newbies, and I think it's about both the technicals and fundamentals.

Another book I really like and can recommend for you is: Technical analysis for the financial markets by John Murhpy.
Good luck!

I have Kathy Lien's book (Day Trading in the Currency Markets), and I like it, but I like John Carter's book (Mastering the Trade) better. I had some trouble getting through Kathy Lien's book on my first reading, but I really got a lot out of John Carter's book every time I've read it (I tend to read in spots).

I don't have Murphy's book but it's the next book I want. I do have Boris Schlossburg's book (Technical Analysis for the Currency Markets) and like it better than Kathy Lien's book -- but both are good.

I have to say -- I did my first read through the Vegas system stuff and I don't think I'd have understood it as much if I hadn't been reading these other books.

I really like Kathy Lien's book. I liked her combination of technical and fundamental approaches. I just learned a lot from it, but it's definitely not an easy read.

Try going through this list of books, they're good to start with.

'Way of the Turtle' is the only book worth reading in that list IMHO.
I wouldn't read the Rob Booker book unless my life depended on it.

Maybe Bollinger on Bollinger Bands is good, he trades what he calls "Rational Analysis" which is a mix between technical and fundamental analysis.

But let me be the first to say it, fundamental analysis is junk in forex right now right now its bad news for all currencies and the ones who have the most momentum are the best performing. Fundamentals in this market is just stupid, trade the technical side.

Ditto

Seriously

As far as the general information about the forex market you can get that for free.

If you want to learn how to make money in forex a good start might be to try and find out who makes money trading and learn from them. Read all there posts.

Ps; Try to understand their thinking first, ask questions second to help understand there thinking. My intent is not to imply that I can teach you anything, however I have found it funny that those I have honestly tried to shorten their learning curve will not apply themselves to what was shown them.

Sorry I am leaving the topic of your question.

Have fun

Dale

I am not too sure there is such a thing as the best forex book. Each book will speak to each individual differently (so to speak).

I gained the most from "The Education of a Speculator" by Victor Niederhoffer, and it doesn't even "teach" any miracle ways to trade.

Amen to that Phil.

Unfortunately F-O-R-E-X,not one author knows everything and all authors have different perspectives. Not one book has it ALL,so start reading your little as off.
I would have to agree with zuret9.

I remember reading a good beginners book list many years ago(i think maybe a merlin post-not too sure though).Maybe do a forum search for the post in question.
Take it easy.
