Woo hoo. My xxxJPY basket from 3rd June finally cleared a few minutes ago.

Mind, it only made 4 pips because of the negative swap those crooks at IBFX have applied to the Yen pairs, but at least the wretched thing has cleared at last. 1 stuck basket down, 3 to go.

Incidentally, guys, out of curiosity I googled NFA. From the website, "National Futures Association (NFA) is the industrywide, self-regulatory organization for the U.S. futures industry."

There you have it. By giving themselves the title "National" they imply some kind of governmental status. We all know that the term "self-regulatory" means, "Responsible to ourselves and we can do what we want. We are nothing to do with government whatsoever."

The funds transfer to my Alpari UK account has left my bank. Once it turns up in the account, I shall set the robot loose on it.

I just had a little bit of luck with a weak JPY basket. I forgot I my live >_@) platform is still incorrectly quoting 4 digits, and so had the robot set to tp at 1000 pips for the 5 digit wally-plonker-dipstick-criminals. I noticed a few minutes ago and closed the basket at +255. Nice, and not often a mistake brings rewards.

Just watch what you are doing, guys, and remember to adjust the defaults if yours is still a 4 digit criminal.

Hi Steve,

I downloaded the latest version of the Range Trader on IBFX Criminal, using Build 224. It just opened a half hour ago the first basket trade which is a Weak Jpy. However, the USDJPY is a buy trade, which is correct, but the others are opposite, sell trades. The GbpJpy, EurJpy, ChfJpy, AudJpy, and the NzdJpy. What's up with that? Also, do you have the present for the latest version? Could you post it.

The orginal range trader has lost half of it's profit in the last few trading days. I am still up 34.5% since May 18, but it was up to 80% as of some time last week. I am still shaky on this one.

BTW, I am in the States, and I have accounts with all the criminals. Swell.

You should not be losing using this robot. I have seen baskets return from excessive dd in minutes; I have seen them remain in dd for weeks. This happens.

That using the basket SL is a sure-fire way to disaster is well documentd. That the StrengthInLossClose is an equal disaster is less well documented, but has been well established in this thread. Using either of them loses money.

The reason for all the contra-direction trades lies in the way the robot checks the KG indi figures - again well documented both here, in KG's thread and in the user guide. I had a weak JPY basket this morning where all the trades were 'wrong'; that is the one that accidentally made 255 pips.

As to the set file, it is mostly what I issue as a default. The details you need to decide for yourself; it is best that way.

Should I worry about it? I didn't notice any string type MarketInfo calls in your EA but could have missed it.

Cheers matrixebiz. You will find it in init(). I keep on forgetting that NULL is not an acceptable parameter for the MarketInfo() call.

I will post a fix for this after watching Torchwood on telly. Nothing to worry about too much, guys.

Does the money management work? Demo 1,000 account and it is taking .10 lots. That seems large to me.

Yep. It works on the figures you feed it. Details in the user guide.

CurrentUnit from 100 to 300 and it is not taking .03 lot trades.

My robot took double trade weak baskets this morning.

What happened was this:

 

  1. Despite being a weak basket, the robot wanted to sell gbpjpy.
  2. IBFX criminals would not let it, because I already have a gbpjpy buy open as part of a gbp basket, so the trade was rejected.
  3. This told the robot to keep on trying.
  4. There is code in place, to stop the robot sending the same trade twice, but there was a fault in the logic caused by the effect of the BasketReverseNotCancel functionality. This faulty logic allowed already opened trades to be opened a second time. This process would have continued endlessly but for the MaxTradesAllowed setting that defaults to 24.

This bug never reared its head before because of the faulty code that Kling spotted - classic case of one boob being hidden behind another. Hey ho. It should be sorted now as it was an easy logic fault to spot once I knew it existed.

Guys, the shenanigins of those MFA crooks will soon make it impossible to use this robot for doing anything other than placing 1 basket. Trades using other systems will become impossible if they are trading the same pairs as this robot - FIFO rule.

What is coming from these morons is beyond the scope of my patience to continually counter. If you want to carry on using this robot as it is meant to be traded, then you must find non-US criminals to hold your accounts.

Gary, I started out looking at the lot size thingy but my attention was hijacked by the latest episode. I shall look at it later to see if my logic is wrong.

Just checked this and the routine works. Make sure you have RobotCalulatesLotSize set to true.

Heya Steve,
Just got back from vaca and went ahead and started up a fresh demo with your latest version for range trading. I am noticing I have double orders for the 3 baskets I had open. I am not sure I noticed doubles in the last version.
I changed the wrong pip entry to 100 instead of 1000, so I just changed that and it closed down 2 baskets for me, but the chf basket still open has each of the following trades in duplicate: buy chfjpy, sell gbpchf, sell usdchf (all of these x2).
Thoughts?
Was going to wait until I get a new basket to see if it does it again, but for now thought I'd ask.

Edit:
Hmm, I think I see what it's doing. Following the log I see this:
opening weak jpy basket, it opens the related trades. Then it gets to a symbol that fxdd doesn't have, nzdjpy. It errors on that one, only tries once. Then right after that, it proceeds to open the entire jpy basket again, once again erroring when it gets to nzdjpy. But it stops there, which is good
I think this may need to be fixed up, but for now I'll just go thru and make sure all the pairs I do not have are turned off in the EA.

Yeah, I noticed that after I wrote it. Wasn't sure it was the exact same issue however, since my broker isn't disallowing the trade because of hedging etc. It was just that the symbol wasn't valid
In any case, it's not a big deal, I am just turning off the pairs I don't have, but I'd think this would be something you'd want to add to your next update?
Even if an order fails, I'd think it should only try to resend that 1 trade a second time, not the entire basket?

For a 5 digit broker, I understand you set margin to 200 instead of 20, but shouldn't you also set Target Pips to 2000 instead of 200 in you really want 200. Shouldn't you add a 0 all the options with pips. Such as Jumpstart to 1000 if you mean 100 and lockinpips to 200 if you mean 20? etc

Same thing happened to me, so I downloaded latest version. But now this version has not taken any trades in last 18 hours. Anybody experience it? As soon as indy touches 15/85 for validation and waits 3 minutes, it does give alert that strong/weakxxx basket sent but there are no trades.

Am using DC version too on demo a/c. Here I'm not getting any values in stochs as it shows 0. So no trades here either.

Have you ever heard of FX Pro?

Looking for a good ( non US ) broker and found this one. odd, they actually use 6 digits instead of 5. So I'm setting spread to 1800 instead of 180.

This Broker is in UK, Germany, and many other countries, just not the US.

Give me any feed back if you know about them.

I can to trade Alpari because I live in US and they require I can only trade Alpari US. Alpari UK is not allowed for US citizens.
