Welcome.

In the absence of Volume data, tick data is used.

hey shamusfamous,

thank you for sharing your info here and the "master the markets" book is realy opening my eyes some more. (i get many flahsbacks from reading about jesse livermores operations)

about high retailfx volume... if they use tick data couldnt it just be volatility and not "profesional" orders.

could you or other VSA veterans explain some more on how tick data is used to provide reliable volume.

hope to get an answer and look at fx-volume with some more confidence.

good tradingweek to all.
even with my eyes open i cannot see everything

Dear VSA-devotees...

I would most welcome your thoughts on the attached chart.

Specifically:

The last highlighted bar.
It's position.
It's volume.
The No-Demand that occurred before it (was it a valid No-Demand with the buyers coming in a few bars prior??)

Regards,

Magnus

tonight I coded in an email alert for the better volume red and white climax bars, since they are either the start to a trend or an end to one. This is just how i use them to trade and have had great success.

you can set up email alerts if you go to tools > options > email

mt4 typically doesn't work with free email accounts but if you sign up at bluebottle.com for like $9 a year u can use it for mt4 to send the email through and have it send to any email address or as a text message to your cell phone 555555555 @ cellphonecarrier.com

Enjoy

Lucky

I'm trying to help my broker pay off his mortgage...

Don't think I could quite VS-analyse forex on 1-min. But the indices with actual volume have been like sirens calling to me over the past couple of weeks.

Hi people. I am a long time reader of the factory, first time poster.

Shamus, may many good fortunes come your way. You Sir are truly a genuine person, which is hard to find these days. I cannot thank you enough for opening my eyes to the world of VSA.

Most appreciative of what you guys and gals are doing here. Malc, you Sir are also an absolute legend. Appreciate the time you take to teach us on here and in the chat. I save every chart you post and learn from each of them. Thank you again mate.

And to a heap of others, the list is just too long, thanks for all your contributions and charts. Thatwasme, your better volume port is an absolute Gem.

As for the never ending stalemate debate about tick volume working in forex, that's up to you to research and decide upon. One thing you should be aware of however, ignorance is NOT always bliss.

Yes it's a stalemate debate because it can never be compared to true volume, so how do you know if it's relative or not? And why do you think tick volume was created for in the first place? Seek and ye shall find.

As it's already been mentioned, use an ECN STP feed for greater reliability and non-manipulated prices. Not a bucketshop where you don't know what they're doing with prices and spreads at their dealing desk.

I'd also like to second Shreem. Esignal livecharts is only $53 per month ($20 for live charts and $33 for GTIS forex feed). I bit the bullet and made my monthly fees back in one scalp trade, 5 minutes after entering my cc number. Plus it's 100% tax deductible, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
