At 500:1, a 0.2% move against you results in a 100% loss of account equity, i.e. total blowup. A 0.2% move in EUR/USD is 29 pips. Heck, a 1 pip move would be a 3.5% swing in your account equity. Assuming a 3-pip spread (the usual at these bucketshops), you'll be down 10% the moment you enter the trade. You'll last longer in Vegas...
See it depends on how much of your account you use. Lets for example assume your a grid trader well in that case you'd require very high leverage as you trade very small lots and you need to conserve or maintain your free margin to open additional trades in the grid.

I used the 500:1 leverage on my FX Pro account to add another layer of risk control to my total risk capital. Keeping only 20% in my account, I was still able to put on a position based on 2% of my total risk capital, while only 20% of that capital was only exposed to broker going out of business, refusing payout based on my trading habits, ect. Redistributed the capital at the end of each month.

It's your actual True Leverage per trade that matters. If that term doesn't mean anything to you then use the search facility.
