Ok, to bring you up to speed with events.

Ash posted his strategy and I saw immediately the potential for automating it. I demo-traded the method on demo and found it works.

I originally coded the method without all the extra filters. These I added as users requested them. I have found with the passage of time that they are unhelpful, and so have stripped them out.

I took the robot off my live account a few weeks ago after an incident overnight when it opened and closed dozens of trades in rapid succession, removing all the profits it had previously made. I do not know what caused this to happen.

I think I have overcome the problem by adding the sleep-after-trade-closure function. Another week of successful demo trading and the robot will go back onto my live account as well.

There are still some updates to come; Ash closes half his position when one of the oscillators changes colour and I haven't coded this in yet.

You might visit Ash's thread at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=156889 as well, if you haven't already done so. Ronald Raygun has also written a robot to trade the method, so it might be worthwhile trying that as well; we all know what a brilliant coder he is.

As I wrote before some days I'm trying to compare steve's and ronald's EAs. I had setup each to different broker. Configuration is the same, all "added" filters are off. From wednesday ronald's version did some trades but steve's not. From now I will use same broker for both EAs.
Steve, when are off all filters not originaly in ash's strategy, is EA's functioning strictly by Ash's rules - mainly exit rule with partial close? As I read in original Ash system thread your EA closes only full opened trade, so partial close is done only by trade profit management. For some automation please can you add code to automaticaly change SleepAfterTradeClosesMins to correct value for actual timeframe and in settings leave only switch on/off for this feature? Thank you.

That is correct and represents something else I did not fully understand. The robot's part-close functionality does not reflect that in Ash's strategy.

No. How long users want the robot to sleep for is up to them. This I will leave for them to decide.

Status Update:

On the four majors 4H no trade this week till now. News filter disabled. Stoch filter on.

That is pretty much as I have it, Uli - no new trades this week. This system does not generate a lot of trades.

At the mo, the robot is looking to go long on UC, GU, EJ (IBFX mini, 4H charts). These trades will only materialise if the rest of the trading conditions match up, as I have coded them.

Did I mention that I also have mtpm set up to close all Ash robot trades when their combined upl hits +5% of account balance? A pal emailed me tonight to say that his had just done exactly that.

using v2.6 I have 2 trades today. eurjpy long at 16:03 gmt time this morning and usdchf long this morning at 8:00 gmt time.
4 hr time frame, news off, Stochastic's true,
USDCHF not doing well
EURJPY is doing well

I found a bug in V2.6. I forgot to change a variable when I made the robot go looking for trades as soon as PSAR filps. If you are using V2.6, then you need this update.

I found the bug because I have started to think about automating the part of Ash's strategy that closes half a successful trade and moves the stop to breakeven, at the end of the day.

Whilst reading that, I reread the bit that says, ".....Only enter once the candle has fully closed."

I need to think about the implications of this for V2.6/7. FYI, I am still on 2.5 and so not actually using the more aggressive settings.

I have Steve's EA v2.6 on my demo from sunday with 13 pairs. Now I spotted strange behaviour. There are no open trades but every instance of robot shows some (1,2,4 or 5) open trades instead of zero. After I restarted terminal all instances wrongly shows that open trades are 0.


Later I will send comparison of steve's and ronald's EAs from sunday till today's morning.

Here is the comparison of Ronald's and Steve's EAs results. Both are at the same broker with separated terminals. Results are from sunday till today's morning (when all trades was closed by EAs). I made this comparison to see if both robots are trading equally.

Setup:
FXDD, 13 pairs, 4H TF
Settings - I tried to setup both robots with same paramaters:
lot 0,02 (2x 0,01 by Ronald), SL 100, TP 60, with jumping stop and bep
Steve: v2.6, other settings on defaults, news filter off, sleep after closure 240, max. spread 10, partial close enabled

Ronald's robot made more trades, maybe Steve's was slow down by "sleep after closure" or by bug in v2.6, that was corrected in v2.7. Some trades was same but with different entry time. Please see attached images - first is Ronald, second Steve.

I will continue with forward testing but with new version of steve's EA and with default settings both robots (only news off and spread 100).

I want to help with the development. At least in this way. I am looking forward the results of the new version.
It seems to me that it will be necessary to look on exit strategy and stop loss manipulation.
