Flashdrive transfer

Question 1. How do I transfer all my custom indicators and personal templates by flashdrive from my Vista desktop machione to my XP laptop machine? I copied the experts folder to my flashdrive but when I replaced the experts folder on my laptop none of them transferred.

Question 2. I could do with some simple procedure to save my MT4 setup to flashdrive on a regular basis?

Question 3. Is it possible to use the flashdrive to run MT4 on any internet computer without altering it's configuration?

Just copy the entire directory to the flash drive it'll run from there, might be slightly slower but doubt you'll notice it, you'll have to setup a demo account / your login details on every PC you run it on though.

That didn't seem to work very well. Program ran OK but no templates as I wanted.

Any other ideas?

I do it between my PC and 2 Laptops and to a mates PC all the time, if definately definately transfers the templates to me.

BUT I always copy to the Target PC, maybe there not being picked up on the flashdrive, can't think of a reason why not though.

if you have multiple clients installed, be sure to copy to the right one.

templates goes into /metatrader/templates folder
EAs goes into /metatrader/experts folder
Custom indicators goes into /metatrader/experts/indicators folder.

restart mt4 client.

By multiple clients I suppose you mean multiple copies of MT4?

hey smikester..... not sure of whats most reliable but the copy and paste method has yet to fail for me.....

to keep large projects separate i always place the platform in it's own folder..... such as,

Crogram FilescyclopsInterbank FX Trader 4

or

Crogram FilesdarylInterbank FX Trader 4

or

Crogram FilesmetaquotescontestInterbank FX Trader 4

.....

this way when daryl contacts me much later i can just look in his folder, all work done for him will be there.....

this way all adx ea's will be in that folder and so on..... neat and orderly.....

all stored on a usb flash drive.... 8 gig drives have gotten quite cheap.....h
