Hey, i agree with all your entire post good words 
But, something i just want to say:
A good grail give you (you give you) good signals, if you are confident enough you can just make 1-2 good trades everyday, and make tons of money, absolutely no need to stay all night trading, with the right leverage (and this only should be done only with a "good grail", due to risk) 20-30 pips daily is more then enough, and they can be taken on a 1m chart within an hour, so just to let you understand that everybody take trading in a different way.
I know that many floor-traders only trade the open, some other only trade the close, some other of course trade the entire session (most of them are looser), but with the right knowledge 1-2 shots everyday are really more then OK.
About automatic trading, eheh that's the dream of most of the traders, and it is not soo impossible to accomplish, but it's surely not simple

for me, iv focused on coding, any consistant profit regardless of the % returned over time, is a grail if i can still live my normal life, without sitting up all night for london then ny
sitting at the pc trading all night, is not a grail to me, its a job
though it may be a grail for you

i take 10 pips 2-3 times a day
i know what ur saying, iv tried to just get a few trades and stop, and it worked a while, but then iv lost past 2 weeks profit in hrs
my ea is discretionary, i do drive it, but i only look once a day, maybe twice
the ea dream isnt so far away as ppl think, the main thing holding them back is greed
can you be satisfied with 10% a month or even 5%
most ppl want more, they want 100% a week or even a day
maybe thats what the grail is to them, iv been there
maybe thats possible, but i cannot do it

I'm know what happened to you, losting profits of 2 weeks in hrs, it's happened to almost everybody i guess

Why does it matter, sideways is a common replacement for ranging when it comes to trading, are we only allowed to use the trading terms you would like?

My idea of the "Holy Grail" in regards to forex has always been an Expert Advsor that would rack in the dollars without you doing much work.
I have been trading manual for years with good success, but finally put an EA together with my ideas, that seems to be working....lol...well the first week it has gone live it has anyway....LOL
