CW or anyone who knows, where do you find candlestick charts of stocks? I have searched a lot, but everything I always see is a charting package you have to buy. Isn't there anywhere you can look up a stock and get a candlestick chart on it for free?

I have never traded stocks before, its always been FX. i took a look at that website and loved some of the charts i saw.

For instance, i just took a look at FAF (first american corp) daily chart. there is a nice pin off important sup/res area @ $26. could be good for a short below $25.

It just seems like there is so much variety in stocks. I like FX, but a lot of the pairs are heavily correlated.

I recall you mentioning that 'hey people, stocks exist too' and never checked it out until now.

interesting. i have to start looking for a broker. Hopefully it is as easy as setting up and trading an FX account.

Thanks for your thread Chris. I know the focus is FX, but good to explore new horizons and perhaps more opportunities.

yes ive started this as well, through Interactive Brokers (not a recommendation or anything), stocks can be really easy to read with PPZ and candle bar signals sometimes... some stocks seem to have no technicals in them due to lack of liquidity though(i find this msot is speculative mining stocks in my market-Aus)... though you'd be suprised how many setups you can find if you do a quick scan through all the liquid stocks in the market... The only thing im wary against are stocks that tend to gap a lot... thought gaps provide a form of support and resistance and pattterns if youve ever read candlestick books before(Nison)

Anyoen short this pair? If YES, could you help me by explaining the signal you got to enter short? I am short off 1.1300 PIN Bar (4-hr TF) but l got some conflicting signals later (Inside Bars after the Pin Bar) when i waz already in...am up +98 Pips and tempted to move my S/L?

Any help, i would really appreciate?

id advise to maby look out for the current 1.1225 area, may post as some support from previous highs

Thanks whitegoodman....will take note. I notice there is quite a fight on that area/zone going on there currently...hope it breaks but if not then am out of this trade........

Here's why I wouldn't take this short.
Weekly it seems we're in a beginning uptrend.
Weekly we reach swing low not too long ago and it's only a couple of points out so close support.
Daily pin bar formed on very very low volume so not even sure about the significance of the bar.

Just my take on it.You want those A+setups, especially with stocks.

If end of day charts suit you, the best most flexible ones I have found are at Prorealtime.com . Can set up for Daily, Weekly and Monthly. Just sign up for free account and will have access to stock and forex charts.

I use this for my Daily and Weekly analysis and then go to FXPro demo account for shorter time and to follow live trades. If you want live feed from Prorealtime, have to pay, but end of day is free. My broker is IB but their charts SUCK!

I just got turned on to Prorealtime about a month ago and like it better than anything else I have seen.

Hi CW.

I slowly discover that my EMAs and weekly pivots are becoming needless with your method, although they often show a bounce the price does not show them the same respect as to the weekly S&Rs. I read before that you don't really use them. Does this also mean you don't give them weight as an additional confirmation or you don't consider them somehow for a SL or TP decision ?

Once more thanks a lot for your thread, it called back some important things which were about to vanish due to constant staring at the PA. When I get home from my dayjob I don't open the charts asap and also my notebook is not with me anymore in the company for constantly watching and screwing something up. I only check once or twice daily on an webchart what the prices from my open orders actually are. You gave me back a bit from the freedom I had before

Your statement "Let the price come to you" reminded me that I slowly developed the bad habit to find a trendline near the price to get a trade.

Actually, I have to second this opinion. I like their end of day charts a lot. It's a bit "clunky" at first, but it's really flexible, once you get a handle on it.....there are a ton of options.

IB is my broker as well, and the charts are a friggin' joke as he says.

Funny how less stressful it is. Think of it like looking at the city below from the top of the Empire State Building. There is a lot of traffic coming and going.....but up there - it's a lot easier to see what is really going on. When you are at street level (5 minute chart) everything seems like total chaos.

Is IB IBFX.com or is that another broker who handles stocks,etc.? If it is ibfx what is your issue there, isn't it just metatrader charting? Who do you recommend for forex charts? Sorry if already asked. thanks.

Update of UNG......I still have the $12 October puts sold. Thought with the gap up today that $15.50 was overcome.....got clipped. It happens. ROughly a 2% profit so far, with options it will be a total of 5%, and maybe more if I go long again.

IB is Interactive Brokers. IBFX is a different place.

Most brokers that offer demos are last week's prices, etc. IB does something like this. TO be honest - I would just paper trade them for a while.

If you go to IB, you should make sure you are used to the platform, as it's a lot trickier than MT4. (Does a TON more too.)
