hi,
just wanted to ask you.......do u only trade when the yellow line crosses over the blue line.....or you only initiate positions wen the yellow line bounces off the red and the green lines?

hi, yes - in theory initial entry may be taken upon break/bounce of centerline (blue)...just like trading a simple MA cross ... (hourly close / above below), while envelope channels provides additional opportunities to enter in direction of prevailing trend...

I sent the TOPS file to a VT forum to see what they could do. Also tried to send a copy of the chart picture... but it loaded in bmp format which VT forum will not accept. Any thoughts about how to change the chart picture?

Also, if you have rules regarding trading TOPS ... could you please post them?

Just want to publicly say thanks again for the exchange of emails about your TOPS.

Everyone, I really think dsvt1 is on to something good here with his TOPS. Also, FYI, it is similar, though not exactly the same as the system I'll be teaching in the PF. dsvt1 has given me some good ideas that I may eventually test inside the system I'm using as a possible enhancement.

Way to go dsvt1!!

Unzip the file and place indicator here:

C:\Program Files\Interbank FX Trader 4\experts\indicators

(Assuming default install location)

Then restart MT4 and pick up new indicator.

I've done a quick test on 4h charts and it seems that some parameter tweaking might be in order.

Are there any specific hourly parameters in the code you could suggest? Or can it work well without changes?

Flicking between 1 & 4h then 1 looks better so far.

hi, tops in current form is only for 1hr.... need code change to adjust timeframes, as the individual parmeters were selected for 1hr application only...

Yes I knew this. I did so when I installed Autopivotindicator
It seemed my MT4 was not working properly. I made live update and now everything is working

opening new short 1.2010 now.. sl & tp set in a bit

I've been following this thread with great interest, TOPS looks like a good tool. I do have one comment though, which is would it be possilble to give some more detail in how you use this indicator? Its nice to see it works well for you but to just post winning trades with no explanation of how your using the tool to make those trades doesn't do the rest of us much good. I'm sure it wouldn't take much additional time to just add a little more detail so others can start to make use of TOPS. Please hurry before the dream team recruits you and then we will have to pay for this valuable information! unless its too late....

let me clarify this so as not to mislead anyone...

as i have said all along, TOPS is a great tool (imho) for identifing potential opportunities. It is intended as a general guide to help show you where the mkt currently sits relative to the prevailing trend. Take it for what its worth.

TOPS is one of many methods, custom and otherwise that i use every day on every trade...and for me to explain every factor of every trade, tangible or otherwise would just not be possible in this setting. I will be introducing more detail about my specific methods and such as my time allows. Untill then I will be posting trades and ideas for discussion.

Ok, but since TOPS was mentioned in this thread I thought it was open for discussion, I'm not really interested in talking about the other aspects of trading here, I'm well aware of all the other facets you mention, but I would be more interested in learning about this indicator. For starters:

1). Can you elaborate on this comment?

I'm not clear when you say meet the price below the centerline.

2). What are the 8 prices in the upper left hand corner of the indicator? high,low close and open, what else?


Also, just curious, are you going to be part of the PF? Since its been mentioned a couple times in this thread was wondering...

Hi Sam, no problem, (maybe i misunderstood what you were asking)I will try to address your questions as best I can...feel free to ask again if your still unclear about TOPS application..

1. Please re-visit post #20 of this thread...notice the yellow tracer line meeting the green envelope bands (which measure dynamic fibo retractment (%) from the 24hr avg) while remaining above the blue centerline.. this is an example of ideal entry situation. A uptrend is in place and retracements within the overall uptrend are contained by the bands, while remaining above centerline... i donno how else to say this...

2. prices in corner are the current values of each line

3. PF - No, ... im just here to post some trades and ideas..

Thanks for clarifying some things! Now you've really got my attention so here come the questions, just kidding, well sort of. anywho heres one question and one comment to see if I'm understanding better,

1.- can you tell me what period MA's you have in post #6, are they SMA or EMA?


2.- i know TOPS is mainly for trend following but based on some initial observations can you tell me if the blue yellow cross for a reversal is more reliable if the cross happens more near the center of the green and red fibo bands? as opposed to being more in the green or red portion? just curious...

the more I understand this tool the more i like it, thanks!
