Twitter - a great platform for traders?

I'm really curious how many of the guys here at FF got caught into the Twitter hype.

I find it as a great mean of sharing information as quickly and as flexible as possible. For example I get news and market opinions directly on my phone from the few users interested in the financial markets I found there. I keep in touch with things this way even if I'm not in front of the PC.

I see it as a great way of exchanging ideas, information, trade signals, etc. In other words, a really nice tool for those of you who are trading.

Also you can find feeds from news sources like CNN, BBC, WSJ or FT. You'd be surprised how many interesting people are there. Of course, 99% is pure bullshit (sorry for using the word, it was the most appropriate) - but this is why I'm starting this thread, to help gather feeds that are interesting to us. Feeds from other traders or feeds that other traders use.

I subscribed to the marketwatch twitter, thanks! I think the reason why there is not as much interest here is that most will find the Twitters to be lacking of information. I know personally, I prefer a deeper analysis of situations, and it doesn't necessarily offer this.

Myself, I use a news aggregator that gathers forex news from everywhere (Google "news aggregator" for more information, I use NetNewsWire for Macs). The benefits to this are high quality information from various forex sources, newspapers, magazines, websites, etc. I added your twitter to my all encompassing aggregator.

Maybe you've heard of this already.

Yeah, I'm more than familiar with RSS feeds.

I just like Twitter because it reaches me wherever I am - at the PC, in my car, at a cafe smoking hookah with my friends. It's not for writing articles, it's not for blogging. It's micro blogging
I don't think the USA has those types of Cafe's yet!

Are you kidding? Where in the US do you live?
I joined up twitter a couple weeks ago and its great to spread news around and get to know other people with the same Forex interest. I would recommend Twitter and then find some people that share a Forex interest to bounce ideas off of and some feeds that give you good insightful posts.

Your list is very good! I was highly addicted to twitter for a bit. I'm slowly weening myself off of it and re-entering "real life". It's bright and scary out there, but I think I can manage.

Cool, I'm glad the FF crowd is finally catching on to the Web 2.0 stuff. I've added you Stefant. I started a thread on persuading FF to integrate more of these features (i.e. Digg, Stumbleupon) to get more traders with likeminded interests here: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=174402

So far, the staff seems really interested and just contacted me today saying too watch out for new features coming in!

I'm quite new to the twitter, still have no idea in how to follow other people. Maybe my chrome browser is not that twitter friendly?

Anyway, I think it is a very good source to communicate a little bit.

Is there any relationship with browser?

All I know that twitter only like facebook feed status. Each time you update it, many people that connected in your network will also receive it. Of course for me that it's much sophisticated facebook status update feature. But hey... look at the bright side, twitter is the first one that start this kind of thing IMHO, CMIIW.

I agree with Kevin. Traders look for an in-depth analysis probably won't be fully satisfied with twitter, but it's a good source for headlines and snippets of information. Here's a forex aggregator that I ran across http://www.fxtwits.com/

It is nothing more than Myspace or Facebook with a Financial Twist. Too many people writing their opinions that are worth nothing. Too much noise with no substance.

Because of the founders connection to the media it's being pushed like the next best thing since the sliced bread.
