Whippy GBP

The price action on the GBPUSD seems to be really whippy the past couple of days. Some intrabar whips of 25-30 pips in a fraction of a second. Does anybody know what causes this and how often it happens on the GBPUSD.
(I used to trade the EURUSD and don't recall ever seeing it whippy like this for so long)

I'd appreciate any thoughts/comments.

gu has always been much more whippy than eu. Part of it is due to lack of liquidity (compared to eu), and also influence from the crosses (eg and gy) and the stock market.
