I have posted before and have since gotten metatrader to run ok. However just recently I lost all my buttons. I now have no buttons at the top of the screen just blank boxes where they used to be. Any assistance in resolving this little issue is appreciated.

Hey there... did you try to reinstall MT4? Try that...but it sounds like a lack of memory problem.

I posted answer here but somebody deleted the post.. not sure what the heck I did wrong.

Try this and see if it pass through the posting police....

The latest version of wine 0.9.35 seems to be the cause of the problem.

I am using Ubuntu 7.04(AMD64) and installed wine via automatix2. Wine version is 0.9.37

I am now running MT4 without any trouble so far.

I have almost made a complete transition to Linux.

Slightly OT but I love how the Wiz uses a Jawa as their avatar. Then again, after watching Spaceballs, who can blame them?

have u tried to copy all windows font to .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/ ?

I lost all buttons in wine version 0.9.35 they came back in 0.9.36

Help?!!?
I set up MetaTrader 4 on my Ubuntu machine with no problems, now I'm trying to do the same on my Mac, and I'm having a little trouble. I used the Darwine build for Wine.... version 1.21 or something, and I can get the program running, but some of the buttons at the top don't show icons. I'm a newbie with all of this computer stuff, so please explain the technical stuff well. I attached a screenshot of my view.
I'm not really interested in Crossover or Parallels or anything you have to pay for, please only respond with advice for Wine. Thanks!

Hi

I'm a total newbee to Linux and tried to install MT4 on Ubuntu 9.04 following the steps on the Ubuntu community wine page.

Wine was installed but MT4 setup stops at the end and I get a message in the terminal like this:
fixme:sfc:SfcIsFileProtected ((nil), L"C:\Program Files\MetaTrader - ForexMeta\sounds\alert.wav") stub

I configured the sound in the wine app but it does not seem to solve the problem.

What do I do to fix this?

I am having the IDENTICAL problem!
Have you had any luck yet? If so could you update us? or if anyone out there has any suggestions, that would be truly appreciated.

FYI I copied, fonts & DLLs accross first.
But it seems to be falling over on a soundfile??? wierd...

installed Wine 1.0. I have a problem of missing buttons in MT4, could someone help, knows the problem?

I get this message by the end of the setup process, on updating the registry.

"Error changing registry data". Then it all closes down. I'm running Ubuntu 10.4 with Wine 1.1.42

Any idea anyone?

Hi,

If you have access to a windows machine, try doing a metatrader install on windows and then copy the folder over to your linux machine and run with wine.

Have you copied the mfc42.dll from windows system32 to the wine windows system32 folder?

Hi

I have installed the mfc42.dll files to the system32 folder in wine. The strange thing is that I have run mt4 on Ubuntu for about a year now, without any problem. I got this problem after reinstalling Ubuntu after a crash on my computer.

Your running the wrong version wine...

remove and install ver. 1.2 rc6

Here is simple way how to install metatrader4 on linux

First: You must select your linux distro ( for new linux users i suggest Ubuntu )
Second install emulator for running your .exe file , i am using wine its free and doing job grate,but if you want you can buy cedega but dont need to wine will do this job
Now Download mt4 platform from your broker and install its all same as windows, when you finish dont run mt4 yet we need to do one more thing before mt4 will work . Now we need to install windows fonts to linux wine folder just copy for windows xp font folder to your usb flesh and copy in linux
here is where you find your font folder in linux

/home/your username/.wine/c/windows/fonts/

Now all is done and you can start using your metatrader i hope i help someone
