Pivot Points in MetaTrader

Hello, do you know of any metatrader indicator I can download, to draw my pivot points as in the "1 Hour" chart below?? I found some indicators online, but they differ a lot from the ones in this chart.

There's a ton of good PP indis for MT4. Accurate calculations are more important than the way they display on the screen, don't you think?

What do you mean? Pivot point values are the same regardless of the time frame you're using. Anyway, here's a good one that's very user customizable and yes, it will draw in any TF.

Now by chance do you mean that you want a pivot tool that draws Hourly pivots?? As in taking the HLC from each hourly candle and drawing them on your hourly chart ((or any other)), similar to the 4hr pivots like you find on www.actionforex.com

If so, then that is a different question from the one you've asked so far...

And if so, then no I don't know where you'd get that, but you can take each hours data, calulate them online and manually draw them every hour if you feel you need them that badly.

Then my question would be... "whatever for??"

Thank you to all the different people that have programmed these.

However I am looking for a weekly pivot point indicator that has an adjustable timezone (time zone). That is I would like to be able to do weekly pivots based on Monday 2am through to Monday 2am, as my servers are based in Cypress and hence their 2am is GMT midnight.

I would also like to be able to do 7am to 7am so that I get the USAs EST weekly pivot lines. Cause my programming skills are very limited, actually to be really honest they are non-existant.

If anyone is able, it would be nice if the indicator, could have pivots calculated in this way for the weekly.

Pivot Point = (Last_Weeks_High + Last_Weeks_Low + Last_Weeks_Close + This_Weeks_Open) / 4

Remember this_Weeks_Open would be the entered timezone (in my case 2 for Monday 2:00am). Hence the end of Last_Weeks_Close would be close of bar at 1:59am on Monday.
A limited history of previous weeks pivot data would be fantastic too.

Can anyone combine the timezone adjustable function into the a weekly pivot point indicator please?


What the indicators below do.

Auto-Pivot Plotter Weekly V1-00 plots the weekly pivots with a good history but does not allow you to change the timezone.

Pivots (SDX-TzPivots) 3 plots a range of pivots (classic, woodie, camarilla and fibo) according to your timezone choice but only does daily.

Auto pivot plotter v1-41 plots daily pivots timezone adjustment.

Pivot Monday Fixed supposably always has Mondays daily pivots correct, which some pivot point indis don't

I was confused about the hourly pivots, because when I did a search in google and in this forum, I found some indicators that said "this will drive your daily pivots" and others "this will drive your hourly pivots".. but if pivots are independent from the time frame, then it's good to know. I don't know why they talked about daily and hourly pivots if these are independent form the time frame.

You know, you could make up an Excel file that will calculate the Pivots for you. You could have a sheet for each time frame, then you plug in the numbers. I know that doing it for the hourly would be a pain in the ass, but certainly the weekly is easy as it's only done once a week. Even the daily is simple and takes just a few moments.

Doing it this way has two advantages. First, you can use any start/finish times you like for you pivots instead of worrying about the broker's times.

Secondly, it's a better learning experience. I mean that if numbers and lines are just slapped up on your chart automatically, there's less of a connection than if you put them up there one at a time. Maybe it's similar, in a way, to making your own charts. There's more ownership involved.

Anyway, all you need is the pivot formulas and you can make your own.

Pivot points are different according to what timezone your server is based in. So if you are looking for pivot points that line up with GMT or New York's EST starting times and your brokers servers are in Switzerland, then you need a pivot point plotter that will start calculation on a unique time frame.

In post #9 I use the first indicator posted for my daily pivots and because my brokers servers are in Cypress I set the first input value to 2. That is midnight to midnight GMT pivots.

If I wanted New Yorks EST pivots I would set it to 7. That is midnight to midnight EST pivots.

Anyway, I hope that one of these will be useful for you.

I totally agree with your response Chief.

However, I have the excel spreadsheet working, and when you plot it out for 20 pairs, it becomes very boring and takes an hour or more.

Finding and measuring the high, then low, then open, then close, putting it into excel, plotting each of the 5 or 7 pivot lines, then doing that process again 20 times becomes very tedious each week.

Also the lines and bars that you put on charts are movable and sometimes you accidentally move them. Re-calculation or a requirement to name each line as you plot them becomes necessary. This makes it an even more frustrating process.

Hence a weekly pivot indicator would reduce about 3/4 hours work each week and reduce the annoyance factor of having accidentally moved my lines or text.

P.S I don't trade all 20 pairs but because I do cross comparisons between pairs (such as EURJPY, EURUSD and USDJPY) and I sometimes pick price differences that imply that a pair that I am trading is soon going to turn, is turning or will soon be a tradeable pair.

They are independent of time frame, but are dependent on your server's world time zone, if you require pivots for timeframes that are above but not including 1 hour.
Hence my request for a weekly indicator with timezone adjustment.

Is there a daily Pivot that only paints the current day, & with 'Short' lines. Not lines that cover the entire chart!

This may be somewhat of a settled issue now what with all the various indi's that have been posted, but it sounds like a couple other folks are also looking for some unique features in their pivots... these threads tend to pop up months later as well and with that in mind...

I use FX Solutions Accucharts exclusively for my charting, and the built in pivot tool is very powerful, flexible and easy to use.

You can select the starting day, starting time in half hour increments, and calculation period of from 1 to 24 hours, giving you the ability to easily display anything from the "1hour" pivots that started the thread off, to 4hr, 8 hr session pivots, or whatever up to 24 hrs. You can choose what levels to display, to extend to the right screen edge or not, and set the various colors individually.

In Accucharts, you can have up to ((I think)) 10 virtual pages each on up to 20 different workspaces. each workspace could be a particular pair, each workspace having 10 pages, each page being a different timeframe for the pivots on that page for that pair.

In other words, Workspace 1 is the EU pair, and Page 1 is the Hourly Pivots that recalculate automatically every hour from the previous hours HLC data. Page 2 is a 4hr TF doing the same thing every 4 hrs, page 3 is 8hr, page 4 is 24 hr, and page 5 is the weekly pivots from the HLC manually entered once each week, ((They don't have that feature yet, but say it coming on future version)). Workspace 2 is your next pair, say UJ withe same setups, and so on.

You can set your trading sessions to begin and end anytime during the week, so it doesn't matter what the borkers server time is. You can select from your Local time, GMT, or any other custom time you want.

One other feature is you click any day on your calendar in the recent past, depending on how many bars you choose to load up, and it will recalculate that days pivots in a blink if you need to see them.

Don''t know if this would help you or no with your setup, but at the minimum, it'd be a relatively fast way to get quick data automatically on multiple pairs w/o any data entry except on the weekly TF...

Sounds very good and can see how it would solve all timezone problems related to pivots that are a day or under. The fact that you can adjust the timeframe according to what time you would like it to begin sounds very powerful.

So many indicators... I go with Aquaart indicator that showing dot only.

What is the effect of different indicator that calculate pivot point but having different time frame. I don't quite get it.......
