Possible, in this FXCM compitition i was at 1st rank for first 2 weeks, after that i stop aggressive trading and then fall to 7th place.
There was one trader from swiden who was up 2460% ...but after that he disapear and did not come in even first top 10.

So it is possible,
i saw one statement where that trader made 500$ to 595k in 2.5 month. in FXCM. some 4 month back someone posted that statement in forex-TSD forum, but next day whole thread deleted..may be they don't want people know how it is done. i downloded that statement before they delete.

Genius idea. $40,000 reward, say 1000 entrants with $500 accounts each, encourage huge over-leveraging and guarantee half at least will blow their accounts - that's $250,000 to the brokers straightaway. Say generously that 30% break even, and the rest earn $100,000 between them.

Back of the fag packet, that's $90,000 profit for writing a couple of web pages. In about 10 minutes.

What sort of strategy is this guy using? It seems he's in and out every 2-3 pips...some sort of API thing?

Yeah, and I doubt these "winners" are even real people. It probably wouldn't be too hard for FXCM to create 3 fictitious names per month that always end up with the top 3 prizes. I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

If we take 3 pips spread per trade. He made FXCM 5,625$.

Second one made 5,344$.

AND Third one made 66.5$.

What they don't tell you is that he blew 20K getting the 19K and so his profit was only 5K.
