It’s an indicator with the long name of “Gann HiLo Activator”. It was created by Robert Krauz in 1998, and named in honor of W.D. Gann. Auslanco introduced it to Forex Factory in 2007.

It’s a fancy moving average that shifts between “simple high” and “simple low” depending on where price is. That’s where the “HiLo” in the name comes from. The periods are variable, but around here we have that set to 10. Logic behind the scenes (the “Activator”) flips the line to “10sma low” when price moves above it, and “10sma high” when price moves below it.

Krauz created it for setting stop losses. But around here it’s mainly used for gauging the trend on a particular time frame. If price is above the Gann line it’s considered bullish, and if below it the TF is bearish. Lower time frame Ganns can change several times a day as price moves around.

Here’s a daily chart with a blue Gann line. Price has been above it and therefore bullish on this TF for 21 days. But if price moves and closes below it on Monday, the Gann line will flip to “10sma high” from that point onward, and the time frame will be considered bearish. It won’t repaint the line for the previous 21 days. In this chart you can see where the Gann has flipped 3 previous times. First bullish, then bearish, then bullish again.

pls can u tell me how u Got that Gann line..because my Gann is like a trendline on mt4 platform but urs look like oscillator ...explain to me sir

I got the Gann line by adding the Gann HiLo indicator to the chart and setting the periods to 10. If yours is drastically different, you might not be using a Gann HiLo. You might be using something else.

Here are a couple MT4 Gann HiLo indicators. The version 2 has slightly different "activator" logic for unclosed candles. But they're basically the same thing.

guys take a look at the prices during weekend

GJ price is 140.87 !!! thats insane

i dunno if those sites give the correct information any idea

Check this website it doesn’t have any significant move bat what show on website you gave this is really crazy I gases if it open Sunday this low we definitely see 117 at list very sun.

... and here's a multiple time frame gann , if anyone's interested. remember though, that all MTF indicators can repaint until the close of the bar in the higher timeframe is completed, for example, an hr gann in a 15 min timeframe may be flipped, but if in the next three 15 min bars, the direction changes the gann may look like it never flipped at all.

For that reason just use it as a quick guide to where the different timeframe gann's may be situated. Or, use timeframes that are close , say 30 min on 15 min, or 60 min on 30 min, but not 4hr on 15 min.

The indicator below also assumes that the name of your regular hilo gann is ###Gann_HiLo_Activator_v2###

they are wrong, im still showing 146.63 on oanda which i believe never closes so would show it if it had dropped to 140. afaik it cant have moved after NY close on friday as even interbank market doesnt re-open until luchtime on sunday (around 1pm est is when i start seeing movement)

oh okay. well everything I'm seeing so far is saying sell sell sell for next week with caution of course . . . the daily is still showing that classic bearish divergence, so a trip to the daily 50 ema (142) is possible at some point. plus, the weekly is showing bearish hidden divergence with a bearish looking bar formation. a hard break of this past week's lows could get a mini bear party going . . .

i would not be surprised if we deep tha low...i was expecting a daily move of about 1000pips in a particular but not shall which day it would be...am still holding on to my old targets: 1st 130, 2nd 118...and recently 3rd 92..yeah call me crazy...

Naaa, not crazy, it will rally sunday monday and sell off the rest of week into the 24th and will be bought up again prolly touching 141 but it will be a measured selll off as it has been for many days now
