The new hedging norms underway might prohibit 100x80 being used in future. So we have fewer EAs which is good.
Though using M1 and M5 with lower steps looks tempting during ranging times but my feeling is that range should not be compromised. Another thing I have noticed is that, even though we use lower TF, it is better to select parameters in such way that the Ribbon can hold even at H1 TF or H4 if possible. That way, it will be much safer and TP is within the range.

I have been testing some numbers on the 4H chart and I like them. It is easier to get a long term read on a currency. Are you really in trouble or not shows up better on a 4H chart.

If u are using longer term TF like 4H chart you have to put into consideration of weekly range instead of daily range. If u use smaller TF have to look at daily range. It doesn't make sense to look at daily range if u are trading the 4H chart.

If u trade longer TF it means your recovery time on loss is longer becoz u have will have lesser trade and holding the trade longer. IMO, recovery time is importance. If you can recover your loss faster than u make them, you will profit.

A loss on 4H TF might need 1 month to recover whereas a loss on 1M chart might only need a few days. If your loss consistently run faster than you can recover, it means something is wrong with the setting.

Trading on higher TF simply means trading on lager retrenchment. In order to have a larger retrenchment you will need more time which means lesser trade. If u get a longer term read on the currency, u need a longer term range as well.

I don't really like the 4H TF, that's my opinion

4H TF is not for trading but to ensure that the range selected on any TF can cover 4H chart also.

1 day only has 6 candles on 4H chart, if u wanna cover them u have put into consideration of weekly range as mention above on my previous post. If it need to be cover means u are trading 4H as well. If u are not trading 4H TF why cover it in the first place ? Why not cover daily,weekly,monthly TF as well ? if we were to cover daily range, it doesn't really make sense to look at 4H chart since it has only 6 candles each day.

The idea is to get to your TP before price goes out of range. If you change TF on the ribbon (MA with levels) used in this EA, you can see that it is almost impossible to contain Daily TF in it and it is not needed also.
Even if H1 is within the range, we will get atleast one TP required for avoiding SL.
Daily chart does not help in giving an idea about that one retracement we are looking for. Hope you get my point.

Hi all,
IBFX officially announced we cannot have any hedged positions after 18 May. What can we do with this EA? So we must "catch" the trend but cannot buy and sell at the same time???

The idea is that all the main brokers will go down this route.

to be honest, I made 7 times the money on my LIVE account size on Nov alone [1 month] last year trading AUDNZD with the buy/sell EA. I don't think can ever get that result anymore since IBFX decide not the have fixed spread on AUDNZD last Dec. Now with the banning of buy/sell on the same currency pair, i bet i will never make 7 fold on my account anymore.

The 60x90 is not a hedge EA. It only buys or sells never both at the same time. The 100x80 and the Aud/Nzd thread are hedging EAs. They buy and sell at the same time. So they will die with the regulations with USA brokers.

All the TF does is pick the point of entry. Once the entry is made the range is the same whether you are on a 5M 1H or 1D. What the 4H does is make it easier to read the long term action of the price. TF are like magnifing glass. You just get a closer look at what price is doing. During a 4H TF if price goes up 50 down 20 up 100 back 70 up 45 down 100 you only see the one candle not all the noise but it still happened within the same candle just like it did on a 5M chart. The 4H system takes more trade intervention but has a much higher win rate. At least so far in testing.

my approach to the setting is a little bit different. I focus more on retrenchment setting rather than range setting. Range of a currency isn't the first priority for my setting so I don't really look into higher TF.

Yeah me too, that was the most profitable EA I have ever had. Some days I was knocking down a 100 bucks. My best day was 176.00 and that was trading dimes. Well, I am working on another project so we will see.

Charvo, I'm running it 24/5 including Friday. Started new demo yesterday after I finally figured out ea with IBFX going to 5 digits. I had to add a "0" to tp, pips, sl and now all is well again. So I have .1 lots, 340tp, 510 pips, and 1520 sl.

I only trade the 5 pairs but will soon go to the 4 majors. There seems to be more than enough trades with these 4.

Remember back testing has to have a 90% modeling for results to be useful.

I like your Asian session thoughts, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the safest days. To me trading the 3 days with just the Asian session and proper mm could make some big bucks with Bob's EA.

My new demo is up over 600 pips since yesterday and I started playing pennies until I finally figured it out.

Hi all. It's been a while since I posted anything. I thought I would throw this it to the mix for your consideration.

Ive been looking for No loss settings for some of the bigger movers. The basic Idea is that given the essence of this EA and the Idea behind it we should be able to change the settings so that it works in every possible situation.

The graph attached shows results for EUR/JPY back tested (I know) using over 2 years historical data.

No Losses, biggest draw down 13%. Return on initial balance 67% or a bit over 30% pa. I'm not looking to make 100% every month

Settings

MA 80 on 1 hour chart with 1 hour ea (Modified)
Entry Delay 160 pips e.g no trades entered until price has moved 160 pips from MA Change it in the code

Lots 0.01
T/P 140
Multiply 2.5
Max trades 5
Pips 200
stop loss 1200

I have also had similar success with the old AUD/NZD ea concept from another thread by Bob

Your EUR/JPY setting is pretty insane. I think if u loss it gonna take months to recover. Assuming no loss is a pretty big gamble.
