As we can see theres no major move when the big boys on holiday. They are the market maker. No point of thorough technical analysis if we reach a conclusion of going against them. So anyone know what the big boys thinking for next week move?

just looking at the calendar there isnt any real significant gbp data out next week at all, 2 lil housing bits that are not going to have a huge effect.

i dont know when bank profits are due out (if these are known i think they should really be added to the ff calendar).

unless someone says something stupid (usually happens several times a week it seems) theres no data releases that would cause much pound weakness. Of course plenty of usd releases which could cause equities to drop like a rock, send jpy flying and thus send gbpjpy down, but cant see anything that would send gbp down by its own steam. or i could be completely wrong

it is liekly built in ... if the rumour is GM will go bust then indexes do not care and it is built in

GM really does not have that much effect on the economy . They have been on the verge of bankruptcy for years . This is not surprising. The best thing for GM to do is go bankrupt , get rid of the union shackles that they have been in where 3k profit of every car goes to people that do not even work for GM any more in the way of pensions . Unions of for governments not for competitive automobile industry. Then GM will be resurrected form the ashes...

Thanks Malcolm I think I'll stop trying to second guess the market and just trade my charts in future.

As you say its mostly already priced in before it becomes 'news' anyway.

Hi malcomb
I know you have been a great observer in the markets.
What do you think about PA in equities in last 4 weeks (i know you follow the Us equities markets, futures also).
And what is your view about G/J in the near futures.
I know you are a day trader but i also value you're opinion.

Thanks.

The way the market has been going anyone would have thought recession is over.

I think this is a game that the market makers play and that the next leg down of the markets is going to be extreme.

In the short term I think the indexes move up , based on earnings of banks and this mark to market accounting practices that they can do now. (hiding their losses) . This will give investors a false sense of security. GJ I thing will hit 155 level and maybe even as high as 160.

I read over the weekend that in reality 600,000 foreclosures have not been released to market and 80,000 per month is the number of foreclosures per month .. that is a loss per month for banks of 2 - 16 billion per month based on a mortgage range of 50 to 200 k , assuming on the higher end banks will lose 300 billion in next year and that is assuming that inflation does not get out of control. Imagine the amount of foreclosures per month if interest rates go to 10 % or more.

I know the feds are in a corner and battling to get their way out of the mess the economy is in , but I just see more storm clouds on the horizon , expect this time it will be hyperinflation causing it.

from a TA standpoint there is resistance at 8125 on dj , and another resistance level at 9060 ish , we could move to these levels with all the hype that is in the market right now ....and from there down.....

come on a 25 % rise on the markets with out a retracement !!! smells fishy to me like the markets are being falsely held high

as i said the the next leg down could be really violent .... 5000 or even 3500 on dj .

It will be caused by one of the major us banks being taken over by the feds , after having reported how well they have been doing and how they have been making record profits . I mean how can wells fargo be reporting record profits when all other banks are going down ? it is called mark to market .. aka hide your losses

gj on a weekly is in a flag ....156 and 167 possible targets .. 167 seems to high though

the flag pole is 216 to 119 , 9700 pips long .. so assuming that my theory on dj is correct if we reverse off 156 we could see a 60 gj ....sounds not right .. but that is how bad things could get if this is just a bear rally in the markets

lets just say for now 135 level break down will lead to test 120 , but more
likely lower into 100

also has been this bearish div on daily rsx building this whole move up break down of the daily flag (140) is the level to watch for 2000 pip movement to downside.

It seem that gj should test 150 and maybe even 155 on an impulse move 1st though for traders to get into long term sell positions

with most of the world on vacation there can be many games played in the low liquidity times. If one is a day trader better wait till US comes back online Monday . US stock markets are open Monday , although liekly volume will be low

Tuesday markets should be back to normal

I agree Malcolmb. Here is an old post of mine from Feb. 8th when GJ was at 136.23. It explains this move up, and why we may see new lows. This is based on symetry of price% vs fibb%....

My Feb. 8th post:
Notice that the 2nd large move down is double the percentage of the first move down in overall price % change.
Notice 1st major retrace is 12%, .382 fib

GET THIS: If 2nd large move down is double the percentage of the first..
what happed when I drew a double retrace of 24%..
Bingo! .382 fib!

keep in mind this is price percentage to fibb percentage comparason. I didn't realize the connection, wow!
*notice all three fibs have the same .382 retrace..
what does it all mean? Were in a retrace to 148.50 till next drop, I am as sure as I can be.
