Do you count trades when you open or close them?

Pretty simple question. Say you keep your records by the week, and open 8 trades on week 1, but don't close 5 of those trades till later in week 2. Do you keep your records as trades 1-3 for week 1, and trades 4-8 on week 2? Or all 8 trades on week1, since that is when they were opened?

Does it matter to you how I do it?

I think the answer was it's up to you how you do it. Nobody else really cares :

in my records, i would just record closed trades, since that is the summary for the week/month/etc.

i only track the profit/loss, not how many trade, i split 1 trade into 4 or more to spread the risk, so it is difficult to track each trade,
if i loss big, then i give a note why, and so if i win big.
i consider event to be more important, since decision is often made because of the news.

Closed trades, more importantly profit loss and percentage. If it's not in the Balance box it is still at risk.

I do care. Honestly I do.

Yeah, I have done the mentor thinghy {more than once} with a hand picked player but the descision of whome it should be was mine & based on reading their personality from posts here @FF or elsewhere and please believe me when I say that anyone who showed the slightest bent to impatience was immediately eliminated.

bemac, i think you're looking to deep into things, i asked a simple question as to what each individuals preference was, simple as that, nothing more, nothing less. Kind of like asking, what's your favorite ice cream flavor, no need to see it as anything but face value, a simple question

i ussualy go for 20 pips/trade, and I try as much as possible not to have more trades open at one given time. Hope this could help

I keep track of both Open And Closed Positions but really only consider them a Trade once Closed.
