One thing I can definitely say for these modified EAs: demo test them for awhile! I am wanting to start out small (about $100) but have noticed that over time these EAs can and will margin out if the DD is too much.

So for those of you wanting to start out small, test this system first before you attach real money to it.

I saw this on an Alpari demo account and was wondering if this happened on anyone else's EURNZD 5M chart. There were four candles missing and a 200 pip gap. This of course did happen at the time of the NZD Cash Rate announcement. Leading up to this, the EA had taken out a Level 1 Short and closed after the price and time gap for a 200 pip profit. Check out the chart.

I´ve attached the mql version of the ECN modofied EA.
I have hired a coder to do the changes so i cant help you further.
The EA sets the SL and TP after the trade was entered.

Try another moving average (ex. 40) instead of 80 on the GBP/USD. Will make it trade less but you still get some trades and it won't get out of hand as easily. The smaller the MA, the less volatile the EA becomes.

Yes, it's working with my MBT ECN MT4 - placing orders without SL and TP, and shortly after modifying to put SL and TP. Beautiful!

Since the spread is much narrower imporved performance could be expected, even though commissions are charged separately.

Will report after some test period ... Many thanks for your contribution. RS

NZD news interest story today. Keep up with the news. Good thing it went down instead of up or you would have been in trouble. good show though.

I got its demo account about a month ago. I had to ask for it by email.
I couldn't do any test until I got Spook's version coz of order placing limitations (SL/TP issue). I will ask MBT if beta still or tradable now and report. RS

It might be nice if MBT gets the MT4 working for live accounts. Their spreads are good. I wouldn't hold my breath with them, though. They work at the pace of a snail. My question would be what good is this EA with them if you have to manually input the stop loss and take profit? Seems to defeat the purpose of an EA. How ya gonna do that at 2:30 in the morning? Or, when at work?

This will only trailing stop on the first level and after the TrailingStopEngage value has been met.
Thank you, can you also post the templates. I assume you just add a 0 to get the MA chart to work with 5 digits but I want to have the correct templates also. Great work.

Because I can run tests quickly, I'm just doing a few to help others explore their thoughts rather than to build or recommend a portfolio. Hopefully I'll learn something along the way.

What to trade? Depends very much on the trader, risk tolerance etc. Because I've been developing systems and trading FX for 5y+ I've developed different strategies for each pair. My method is to audition new EAs but only use if they bump the existing strategy on the a pair in the terms important to me which goes beyond nett profit (DD, trade frequency, profit factor etc).

Only successful instance of this EA for me (ie. better than previously using) is 3 levels AUDCAD 13 min 90 width spacing 75 take profit 350 SL. Yes, 13m an advantage of trading with Gain through Tradestation. 10m also works well same settings. I think the pair works because both are commodity currencies influenced by similar factors so much of the trend factor is common to both leaving just the variations from mean. Same argument for why AUDNZD works other than the horrendous spreads.

May look like overoptimised settings, but they put me in the centre of reasonable bands for each variable. Just started real with this EA yesterday, fingers crossed.

I personally can like both high and low risk. for this EA i calibrate my pairs daily.
i have been thinking it might be fun to have the same EA on the same pairs but have different time frames like one on 5m then 15m 30 min 1 hr. if you did that with some of the pairs you would have different angles you could hit the same pair and different entrys. maybe even different sizes. like 50x75 or 70x110.

hmmm when the JPY pairs get moving it can be quite problematic to this system. i'm thinking no majors and no jpy crosses. really i think it comes down to only a few safe pairs...

all im trading live now is audnzd, audcad, nzdcad, gbpnzd, eurnzd

demo trading the rest to see if any others behave properly...

as a general rule it might be easier to leave the US and JPY crosses out, but all depends on settings and risk profile of the person

From what I have seen the gbpnzd and eurnzd are volatile pairs with high spreads.

that is very correct but the settings im using have sorta negated this to an extent, you will notice that is moves quite alot during the day...

worse comes to worse its within my risk threshold if it hits SL, so i sleep quite easy
