Well, then, to avoid any future misunderstandings, why don't you outline how you use and apply EW theory. What rules do you follow(if any)? What guidelines do you find relevant? And more importantly, since you claim that the rules were not there in the beginning -- How do you differentiate between a standalone 5 wave motive vs a standalone 5 wave corrective move? -- Some chart examples would be nice to corroborate your findings.

I follow the rules but they are not inviolate. Nothing in this world is considerd absolute. You know, like the expression "never say never".

Simple question, when you have a correction that is clearly 5 waves what do you do? Do you ignore it? No you probably relabel what is clearly a 5 wave pattern into a 3 wave. How is that correct? The market (everyone else who does not follow EW) does care how many waves and which labels are applied. They are buying and selling based on all kinds of other fundamental/technical reasons.

Robert Prechter was simply the guy who re-introduced EW to the masses after it was for the most part forgotten after Mr Elliott completed his 5 wave life-cycle.

He does not get to say these are the rules and in each and every case and always forever this is the one and only way to interpret wave structures.

BTW Rocroy, I was simply responding after someone else brought up a similar point. So I am not alone in my reasoning.

Can we please get on with the EW analysis. I need someone to tell me the current correct counts for EURUSD. Everyone has been telling me my wave counts is wrong that leads to a bit of a "circus" in this thread.

Please....if you think i am wrong on the counts...which i think i am ...then someone please show me the correct counts according to you. Let the knowledge flow back in and STOP this nonsense....everyone can post what they thing they believe in. Cheers!!

Show me an example of what you are talking about. Put your words into action through a chart example of this supposed standalone 5 wave corrective move that you are on about. Then we will have a basis for this disagreement.

Have been meaning to get myself into EW analysis. Has always intrigued me.

I am about to buy a book, which one is the most recommended, Elliott Wave Principle by Prechter or the one by Balan?

They have lots of free materials that covers quite a depth about EW.

Thanks bud, I'm looking at the site now. Should keep me busy until the book arrives.

I prefer a hard copy so I can read it when on the move.

I went with the Prechter book.

Hi all,

Here is my USDJPY chart..

Its my alternate count. If its true, TOP is still NOT in place.

And i'm think of triangle in wave 4.

EWP is good, especially for starters. If you find EWA interesting but you're looking for a more practical approach I recommend Dynamic Trading by Miner. Most helpful imo.
