As long as the numbers are close you will be alright but if they are way off. IT will be UGLY. I closed down early today with a 20% increase on my live account for the week. I will take that from now until doomsday.

I knew all these steps; I was just not sure if the MN could be any No. or there is some algorythm in creating it.

I also wanted to ask you if you have tested the EA for the last August and October, as there were several days with severe one directional movement and if "Yes", if the experts managed to survive during these adverse movements. Thanks!

I have been running defaults 3 Levels on .01 IBFX demo on all 22 pairs since 2/1/09. 970 Trades with little over 68% win ratio. 16,900 net pips including large USDJPY losses last week of 1225 pips. All in all, I am very happy. $3,000 demo is up 16% running pennies. Would like to get winning ratio up a few points. JT, are your setting OOTB? Wayne

I use the exact settings and currencies as laid out in Bob's first post. In the ea I change max trades to 2, tp to 100, sl to 400, and pips to 200. It still activates 90 pips from center. It basically changes the whole thing into a 100x200. You could go more levels, of course, but then you have to have smaller lot sizes. My idea is to maximize the profit on the first level tp in relation to the size of the account. You're also narrowing the ratio between a first level trade and a 400 pip stoploss (about 1/10). It's less emotional for me than looking at 3 and 4 level trades, so I'm not checking my stupid screen every 5 minutes or trying to come up with hairbrained schemes to get my money back (hedging, scalps, etc). 400 stoploss, boom, move on, better luck next time. This ea actually never stopped a loss once all week, but as Bob noted, you will apparently encounter them 10-15% of the time. That's why you need two levels, as one level would create a breakeven or losing scenario.
I tried backtesting one levels on several pairs and couldn't make it work.

W, are you counting the first 2 levels as lossers when you win on the 3rd level?

I look at all trades individually... if it is positive, then it is a win and negative is a loss.
If a 3rd level win closes the level 2 and 1 at a loss, then I have 1 win and 2 losses.

Bob, I have an impression that 5m trading is much safer than 1H trading. In other words, 5m system has much less entries than 1H system. This is based on my backtest and observation.

It depends on the currency. The more volatile the currency the lower the TF you want to use. For instance the USD/SGD probably would never make a trade on a 5M chart. It moves too slowly. The NZD/GBP would probably be stopping out most days on a 1H chart so you have to eyeball the best times for each currency. What I was talking about was the amount of money being used and the number of currencies you were trading. You are almost guarenteed a margin call at some point. Thats all.

Thanks for your settings, pipmaster. Quite different from mine in that you use a 20 MA and your entries are closer to the center line, not to mention you use a 5 minute chart for most all pairs. Other than that, they're the same..LOL.
I think what it shows is that the settings are not cast in stone, and up to the risk tolerance and trading style of the individual. The EA is very easy to change, making it readily adaptable to what every individual might want.

Thanks W, I'm counting a 3rd level win as a system win (100%). Don't think it matters, bottom line is it's showing profits. Will be turning on the MM of this EA Sunday and see what that does. Haven't heard much on about it, has anyone used the MM of this EA? Would be nice to have a 500 account grow to big bucks just using the MM. I will keep everyone informed. Thanks Bob for this EA

JT/Bob,

Am I understanding this setup correctly in that it would result in a lower drawdown (less than 1/5 by my calculation) but also results in a lower profit per lot. Since the drawdown is lower, we can use higher lots which more than makes up for the lower profit/lot, which results in a higher overall profit.

Is that logic correct or are there other benefits?

Just slowly closing out some trades to get it all closed down before market close today. Afterward I will post my final weekly report. Another awesome week with the 4L default.

I am also trading Level 4 with no recovery EA. This keeps me more disciplined when deciding to close negative trades once the trades reach -500 pips or keep adding recovery EA's to the chart.

Edit: Up +4.8% for this week and +48.6% since start of test.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the h level is set to 90 to enter the trade 90 pips from center. "pips" determines the distance before the next level activates, so h level 90 and pips 200 means the first level activates 90 from center but the second level activates 200 pips later.
