is it just me or do the majors seem to trend too much for this system??

perhaps, you can work around it with different settings... audnzd, eurnzd and audcad seem to range the best atm...

Even in a trend, a pair can go down by 60 pips and continue it's march. Not all here do, but I start my trades out at distances further away than 90 and using different time frames. I stay away from certain pairs that tend to trend more than others, but that still leaves me with over 10 pairs. In order to see the action of each pair, it's helpful to scroll back on the chart to see for yourself which pairs tend to reverse, by how much, and which would be the best distance away to start from, based on the past, which is no guarantee of the future, but the only gauge we have.

Do the different timeframes really make a difference? If you compare the MA on the 5" to the MA on the 60" to the MA on the 240", I've not found that the difference between them amounts to more than approximately 50 pips. As well, Paradoxical, what pairs are you trading and how did you figure out your grid?

take a look i think i might have come up with the right math.

the 2 yellow spots are for inserting your movement in pips
the pink is what they are trading at

the sum column is the accumulative loss or win in dollars following the trend

you can see the reversal in brown that shows the win or loss for that side. Only problem trade it step 1 if you have any ideas for that it would be nice.

You see trade #1 trade #2 and so on I guess that should be step 1 2 3 ect…

You can see only the winning side keeps the trades active. And it accumulates quickly.

Take a look. I have tried to make this readable.

i trade every pair off 5mins.... i jsut make adjustments to the MA's for pairs that move quicker

Here are three separate charts for the 5 minute, 15 minute and 1 hour time frame on the EUR/JPY. My entry point is 120 PIPS away from the 80 Moving Average. I'll let you study the charts for the differences, as it would be too long to cover in this post. In brief, the 5 minute chart would not have hardly any touches of the 120 line. The 15 minute has several where they just hit it or go slightly over, and then reverse, which is what I love. On the 1 hour chart, it goes deeper. In order for me to have the 1 hour chart just touch the line and reverse, I have to move the line further away to maybe 130 or 140 PIPS away.

How I figured my "grid" is by doing this test, along with Strategy Tester, which is unreliable but helps in letting me know what time frames might be best. My main thing is to TRY to avoid stops, and this is what I was looking at in getting my entry points and time frames. I manually scrolled back on every chart with every time frame to see which time frame and distance away would be best to avoid a stop based on past history. That doesn't mean I won't be stopped with my settings. I think it lessens my chances because my entries are already far out, and the pair has to trend that much further away from center for me to be stopped.

I'll update in a future post my current settings, which have been tweaked only slightly from my prior post on this.

Testing for a week now and +300 on 11 pairs default using 1 min tf. Impressive.

These are my settings. The notations of "STOPPED) are where the pair was stopped in a visula back test, but where I couldn't find any better settings without going so far out on the entry that I wouldn't get many trades. I would agree that using so many time frames is confusing, and it would be nice to just use the 1 hour time frame on every pair. Nanningbob played with the time frames, and found that lower time frames were better for some pairs, and has posted to this effect. I've just used his findings and tweaked them to suit my own taste. I've added remarks of "MAX ..." This is a visual test I made of approximately how far the pair will move from center before some sort of retrace, which is usually a sizable one. If someone wanted to just use these maximum distances to trade, my guess is you'd have about 90% or more winners. What I'm using them for is for an additional trade. The recent indicator posted called "level alert" I've set to give me an audible and email alert on a DEMO account when a trade is made at these levels. When I get the alert, I decide if I want to make a trade. I just started this, but am very excited about the prospects of being notified of these high extremes away from center, and potential scalps or even an additional two or three level trade EA at that point. Thanks for the indicator. I had been looking for one that would do this very thing.

I have started a new demo using level4 instead of level3. I found for my own style, this is better suited. Even when using level3 last week, every time it hit l3, i was ready to throw the recovery on anyhow, or wished I had l4 active. The rare times so far that l3 have gone a bit against me but still turned around and hit my tp, the level4 would have done it much quicker.
Anyhow, will report my results again at the end of the week, however just asian and london session yesterday has already given me close to 10% return. Going live with this bad boy next week if not sooner.

Hi,

There has been some discussion about the TFs used. According to some the change in TF doesn't affect the result that much.

I'm fairly new to this EA, even though I have followed the system and previous systems for a while, and I wonder what TF I should put my pairs on? When should I change and why?

Leaving it default Archie, 500 SL

I would start by using bob's recommended timeframe settings located in the word document. Those are what I am sticking to. The work bob has done is impressive and I see no reason to tweak everything, as it's performing very nicely as is.

If you feel the need to tweak, you can do what others have done and manually back check each pair and timeframe to find a good fit for you.

I'm using the 4L EA's with each pair moved down 1 TF. The 4th level has come in handy a couple times in the last two weeks trading GBP/JPY. This morning things looked like they were starting to get out of hand so I shut down all pairs that weren't trading, and all pairs that were positive or close to BE. Freeing up that margin made me feel more comfortable with letting my level 4 go with the GBP/JPY. It turned around within an hour, TP'd and I turned on all pairs for trading again. $74 since turning on last night.

Plus $65.08 for the day with no trades left open at all, using the far away settings shown in my prior post, trading at .10 each. Only the EUR/USD (level one tarde opened at 140), and EUR/JPY went to the second level with these pairs closing at level one:
USD/CHF, USD/CAD, CHF/JPY, AUD/JPY, USD/JPY

This is PERFECT trading, as far as I'm concerned, and not every day will be like this. Personally, I don't even like hitting level 3; never mind level 4. I won't keep up a daily tally. Maybe weekly, or just every now and then for those interested in what live trading at these settings are doing.

fantastic results there. I made $22.08 today trading mostly small.. This includes the trades left over from Friday at level 3 on usd/chf though at .05 start.. My eur/usd starts at .04, which hit again after being held over the weekend.

yeh I added 12% to my live account for monday, with a few carry overs on the weekend. Just trading penny lots atm, but still its a promising result for the day, settings are quite mdoerate for most currencies, slightly more aggressive or audnzd, audcad and eurnzd

After waiting about 72 hours, I was finally given permission to post. I am new to Forex, and I have not yet used this EA yet, but I am very interested as it fits the need for my overall strategy. I am using a 5 digit ECN broker on demo. Is it possible for a programmer to make the tweaks for a 5 digit and a 5 digit with ECN and post them? Or at least to post what needs to be done on one post that can be linked from first page since there are many pages now on this forum and it is hard to find all of the changes for a 5 digit broker. I thank you very much, and I look forward to posting some results on currencies and times (going to go with all currencies at .01 first for data testing and then narrow down times and currencies, settings, etc.).
