Metatrader 4 EA Entry.

I've posted this thread many different ways. When does an EA in MT4 enter a trade? My system is using the completed bar method, but it seems to indescriminatly enter the trade, not on the op, high, close or any other position it just seems to enter. Is there a way to code an EA to enter at a certain point? High. low, close, open or any other point of the previous bar?

Ea's execute on a tick by tick bases unless coded otherwise. Without seeing the code it is impossible to see what your ea is doing.

But to answer your question yes you can code the ea to enter only at certain points, times, etc.

Skills is something I don't have when it comes to coding, I've built the buy,sell and close trade criteria, any help with entry coding?

Why don't you post something about the entry criteria. Is it based on a specific price? Or maybe an event like an MA crossover? It all depends on what you actually need it to do.

Also, keep in mind that how your EA is coded will play into this. Some EAs will only act at the close of a candle and make decisions based on that exact price. Other EAs will watch every single tick (throughout the day) and make decisions each and every time. Both methods have their merit, it's all about what you're trying to accomplish with the EA

I've actually coded the EA to do what I want (signal wise), but the entry is off. So far I'm not sure if MT4 can even change entry options, such as to enter a trade on the high, low, close or open of a price bar. I have the signal coded, but the entry throws off the results.

how much slippage have you built into the initial entry order? If you have it set to a low or even 0 value it may take the ea several attempts before the server gives in and makes the buy or sell.

Again, the best way to get effective help is to post your code. Otherwise, we're just guessing and that's worthless.
