Crodzilla - good to have you on the thread! No need to apologise - I can see from your comments and Excel analysis that you already have a good understanding of the topic and are learning fast!
It is worth remembering that MetaTrader has a DDE export facility and so it is very easy to to set up Excel cells that update live tick-by-tick from MT. So if you are familiar with Excel, it makes an excellent analysis tool. Not only is it a very powerful calculator, you can also write VB scripts and display the results in a whole range of graphics. (Sadly, the only thing Excel handles badly is candlestick charts. They are great with JUST candles but if you want to overlay any other lines you are in trouble. If anyone knows how to do this it would be a great help!).
Brent - likewise, Matlab has a DDE library as standard so can read MT data tick-by-tick in real time for serious analysis! But getting it back the other way is harder. Your DLL sounds like a great idea :-))
