Hi Harold and everyone,

I'd like to ask another question. Since we look for Key to the Mint trades starting from around the Asian session (which would be night for most of the western world), I'm interested to see up to what time everyone trades.

For example, the start of the recommended time is 0:00 GMT is around 1am for us here in Central Europe during winter. For the US it starts during the evening. As far as I could see, after the London open the volatility increases, which makes the system less prone to give out trades less than 24 pips, more volatile and more "spikey". However, in this thread I've also seen people taking trades before the Asian and even during the European session.

As for me, I've done some testing and tried opening some trades during the European time, which is more volatile. Some did work, some did not... I've had more success staying up at night during Asian (I'm CET), but this is kinda taking a toll on my sleep time!

So, from your experience, which period of time gives out better (and more succesful) trades?

LP - it used to be that the Asian session was very slow and sideways-moving most of the time and the London and US sessions were the times to trade.

However, for the last year or so, there has been extreme volatility, such that the Asian session is probably a better time to trade many methods, especially one like this.

I trade primarily the European morning from about 0900 CET, when I get back from the school run, occasionally stretching into the first hour or so of the US open hour. The extreme volatility has been challenging to say the least : it is tough to see a perfect KTM-style setup go +10 in your favour, then whiplash back very fast and hit a -20 stop (especially when you're trading 10 contracts). As always, you have to adjust to what the market is doing. The thing that I respect most in Harold is his patience : only 7 trades in a month : I am trying to keep to less than 7 trades a day (but I am trading more than KTM) !

i trade the euro open & still get enough trades,yes it is more volitile but some trades i m out within a couple of minutes,u dont need to put a trade on everyday to be successful,u may have 3 trades & win all of them thats 9% increase in ur a/c in a week,thats pretty good hey.i m just a bit more selective which trades i take,so just be patient the trades will come

on post 3778 the rules are laid out for the 123 method lazy 123's happen in everytime period just be patient the markets will settle down take what you can get or trade the original key to the mint method it also still works

The Original Used 6 Pairs Eurusd,gbpusd,eurjpy,gbpjpy,audjpy,cadjpy The Indicators Are The Same I Would Start At 2 Am Est And If All Indicators Were Crossed To The Same Side And The Correlation With The Yen Pairs Were The Same I Put Trades On Via 1 Hr Charts At Close Of Candle Determining The Daily Trend Is The Same As The 123 Method

if theres no cross of emas in the daily chart, like suppose theres a long down trend, do we just wait and do nothing (sometimes theres no cross for days). or do we go to the 5min chart and look for shorts?

when i say the ema's are crossed i mean there values like 1.4105 to 1.4106 means its a down trend and if it doesnt change yes it could be days and weeks where all we do is short the pair there is never more than 1 day that the ema's remain the same

thats what i thought, so in the eurusd 5m we just look for shorts now?

eagleeye there were no setups lastnight remember if we are looking to short then price has to trend up first so we can then sell down the eurjpy can close but when it can time for entry stochs were oversold

haroldfx, the price went up by more than 30 pips to form point 1. i think i read in a post that price has to go up/down by 30 pips to determine trend. so tell me please how much should price go up/down by to determine an uptrend/downtrend?

Now, I'd like to ask one more thing. Sorry if it gets a little long, but I'd like to explain it.

I tend to find 1-2-3 patterns which seem to be valid, but do not end up giving the same results. I do understand the price has to trend against the daily trend first, and all indicators must give a green light.

However, sometimes there are smaller 1-2-3 patterns which end up being inside later bigger 1-2-3 patterns. But since one doesn't know what will come next, these end up being stopped out (sometimes by 1 or 2 pips!). All the rules are being followed exactly.

I'll use some examples of charts Harold posted in the past to show what I mean.

In the first chart, the successful setup would be the one with blue-coloured 1-2-3 marks. However, there is also a smaller 1-2-3 inside it (I put it in green), which would be stopped out at point 3 of the "larger" pattern.

In the second chart, the pair had counter-trended, and later a profitable 1-2-3 setup had happened (also in blue). However before it, a smaller 1-2-3 had also happened, which did not turn to be so good - even though all the rules were ok.

So I'd like to ask if I am thinking somehow in a wrong way? It happens frequently with my forward testing/trading. I'm afraid I might be doing something wrong, so even if these trades are correct... how to choose the best setups?

just looking at the charts it doesnt look like the rsi had crossed on both trades,but without seeing it live u cant really tell when its close.
i know that when they all arent crossed they keep us out of bad trades,which is great.
harold may b able to better insight to this
