In determining the best settings to use, do you use MT4 Optimisation?
If so, do you have any suggestions?
If not, how does one go about modifying Flyer!'s settings to cope with changing market conditions?
thanks

DislikedJR,
I usually modifiy the settings by running a few backtests and sometimes the MT4 Optimisation, but that usually is pretty computer intensive.Ignored
QuoteDislikedUsually some educated guesses on what to change in the settings and a few backtests is all that's necessary to update the EA to give you some better results according to the current market conditions.

DislikedYes, I tried optimising Flyer v1.05A on my Athlon XP 3200+ 1 GB. It took 10 hr 45 min to compute 124 of 1360 parameter sets, at which point I aborted (estimated total time 107 hr) and of the 124, all but 8 were $0 profit. The 8 were all losses, with drawdown ranging from $2257.60 thru $5947.93. Of course the full set might have given some winners(?)
That's OK if you're experienced, but otherwise... How far do you look back?
Presumably v200 is the best, and contains in itself the best settings? In post 1 you imply that it is still buggy.
Have you ever correlated backtest vs forward results for any Flyer version, for a period of at least a few weeks?
Flyer is interesting in that it is the first EA I've found which tries to react to the market. All others have been ambush-type i.e. expect a certain market behaviour like the London breakout and set trap accordingly.
Hope you don't mind all the Qs (is there a FAQ, can't seem to see one)

DislikedHey everyone,
I still get feedback privately regarding my EA Flyer! and I appreciate all those people testing everything out. However, I probably will not be supporting this version for much longer as I am going to be working on starting another EA soon that will have some roots in Flyer! but adapted to fit my personal trading system that is working well for me and has been profitable in live trading now for a little over 8 months with average returns of 10-20% monthly. While my personal system probably will not be reproduced 100% because of inherent programming difficulties, I hope to achieve a moderate degree of replication. I'm sure many of you will be excited to see the results once I have them available.

DislikedImpressive performance, Marci. Are you planning to share this new EA?
cheers

DislikedYes, once I have it finished. I've started work on it already, but this one will be more difficult to program than Flyer! was so it may be a month or so before I have a preliminary version available to try out.Ignored
DislikedIt is funny that now I want to say hello to everyone and Marci ,and this thread seems to be the end of Flyer! EA.... I know it is bit too late. But anyhow, it was my pleasure to read all your threads (3 parts I believe)!. I just wanted to let people know who has a problem with TP issue, there is another EA that seems to work well and very customizable to everybody's needs. http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=9553
I read so many thread and tried many methods including Sidus, Moteki, Price Action(James16 public thread), TEB, Daily Scalping, etc... I got very good signals from all of them just not good at getting out. But what makes the pips comes down to when you get out isn't it? Everybody can get in at same time but some people make pips some people don't. So here is some EA that it might go well with this wonderful Flyer! EA. I hope someone can get some use for this!
Happy pipping!

DislikedI'm still around JR, work has been a little slow recently as I've been doing a lot of summer stuff rather than sitting behind my desk working on computer programs! heheh...

DislikedGood to see you're still around. The new EA you spoke about in post #126 27Apr07, is it any closer to being released?
cheers

I still will answer questions about Flyer if anybody wants...
Also, would like to hear from anybody still using the EA and how your progress has been going.
Thanks all.

DislikedMarci,
I've been demo testing the EA with the default inputs since end of July and have made several wins. I have a live statement linked below. I find that it makes very good entry but has extremely high TP values and gets close to a win but then dumps and hits the SL. So I have been manually closing out the trades. You will see several that hit SL but that was because I wasn't monitoring it at the time. If you can provide guidance on setting TP and SL, or trailing SL if there is one. Otherwise, I think this EA has huge potential, as you can see from my statement.
