Question: If you have an ea that gives consistent profits is it in your economic interest to share it?

If you're incapable of working out the answer to this question by yourself, then I very much doubt you have anything worth keeping a secret.

I would agree with you if the member asked for coding help on the forum or learned programming from the forum. If he developed it all on his own and it is truly profitable I don't think it would be selfish not to share it.
Most important don't just share the results and talk about how great it is and then keep the EA private.

Yes, but again my question, Would it be in your economic interest to have lots of other people executing the same trades at the same time. I understand that initially it may help, but in the long run? Anyone?

I doubt there is ever an economic benefit long term. If your EA trades on higher time frames I don't think it makes much difference.

A lot depends on the logic behind the EA. Any EA that exploits the broker will become ineffective quicker if it is shared. For example lately there have been a number of free and commercial EAs that trade EURGBP during the Asian session. They basically scalp and take advantage of the broker. The more people that use that style of EA the less effective it has become. Brokers have started canceling profits or closing accounts and raising spreads to combat it.
