How to control risk in Scapling Method?

One wrong trade deplets the small profits of several other porfitable trades. What is the strategy to aviod this in scalping Method? Putting stop loss is not possible as being too big. What is the solution?

You need to have a positive expectancy to become profitable. Let your winners run and cut your losses short is an old adage that traders follow.
Expectancy=[(Avg Profit) X (Probability of Winning)]-[(Avg Loss) X (Probability of Losing)]. The expectancy with this equation tells you what kind of Profit/Loss you can expect for every dollar risked. I prefer to find out my expectancy in terms of R, where R is the % of my total working capital Risked. If you come up with a negative expectancy, stop trading and find out why. To get more specific to your question, it is hard to answer as we do not know what kind of risk you are using, how accurate your system is, and if it is even profitable. Make sure you demo, before trading with real money, especially if you are trying out a new method. You may consider using a larger stop loss, to avoid being taken out, but if you are trading 5 minute charts, you are up for a real battle anyways. I wouldn't even bother learning on 5 minute if you are new to trading. Learn on daily and up first.

So your losses outweigh your wins? Sounds like your strategy doesn't produce a profit in the long run. No point kidding yourself with a high success%, none of those other stats matter. Ultimately it is all about the coin.

Markets buzz up and down. Your system needs to accommodate this or you're going to get stopped out needlessly over and over again. Either you hide your stop behind support and resistance or you set it based on a volatility measure. If your stop gets hit, it should be at the point where you no longer want to be in the trade - at the point where you would no longer consider getting in the original trade - even at the point where you would consider trading in the other direction. If you're placing stops using any other method then you have not given it enough thought.

Reducing risk is one thing, but how about increasing your exposure to higher rewards. What is your idea of scalping? For some I imagine it is banking small profits with a high success%, which sounds great but in reality if you're not leaving your trades to hit extended targets then you are reducing your exposure to what the market is willing to give you and leaving profits on the table.

The best trades I ever made are the ones where I had a scalpers stop loss but a swing traders TP.

I use 34 EMA for Close, high and low. I use 1 Minute timeframe for that. Line curves signal entries. Your advise is good. Thank you.
