Hi

i have an EA which calculates some variables and displays their output using COMMENT().

however, these variables do not get re-calculated/displayed without a tick movement on the chart.

is there anyway around this ?

if it has to be an EA, then you can try placing it in the init() function. but that means it'll only do once.

if it can be not an EA, you can write a script instead. then place a while loop that contains a sleep with an interval of your choice, say 3 second (3000 miliseconds). That way it will do your bidding (what's defined in the start()) after every 3 seconds. and not restricted by tick movement.

Maybe I'm not thinking hard enough, but I just can't imagine a scenario where tick-by-tick information is not enough. Unless I'm looking at various pairs with the same EA on a single chart, tick-by-tick should be *plenty* of movement.

i think it needs to be an EA because...

i am basket trading, so, i attach the EA to a chart but the EA will be placing multiple trades on other currencies. the problem is that my EA's profit/loss only gets updated when the chart the EA is attached too moves by a tick.

or maybe its just not possible.

It is possible with an EA. Look at Orest 1.14b to see he set up a loop that reads without ticks. It was new to me also. Very ingenious.

OK, that makes sense - just as I suspected - watching multiple pairs on a single EA chart would lag in data just a bit. The quicker solution would be to put your EA on a pair that you know is highly active like EURUSD and that would minimize (but not quite eliminate) the lag.
