I’m developing a new strategy using Bollinger Bands. There is a lot of information about it but I haven’t found anything clear about this indicator performance in real life trading. I would like to know something about websites, books, or any information about charts or strategies using Bollinger Bands. I have a great feeling about this strategy but my problem is that is very irregular sometimes. I’m just trying to check if this is a common behavior of the indicator or it’s just happening to me.

Hi Angelatrix. I read 'Bollinger on Bollinger Bands' by - you guessed it- John Bollinger. Very informative with examples of patterns and nuances of the bands. Remember the central line is the same as a 20 moving average which a lot of systems use as a trigger when price crosses. I sometimes place the bands on to see whats happening and find that after a squeeze the bands open out. whilst the price will follow one way ,if the opposing band is opening out then stay in the trade. Once it starts to round over look to get out. I also use the bollinger squeeze v8 indicator. its a coloured histogram which can use rsi, stochs or cci for its stats but shows blue bars when the squeeze is happening. This allows me to remove the bands and just place them on when i get the blue appear. Hope this helps.

I recently found Bollinger's site for forex called BBForex. In the methods section, he talks about trading systems using his bands and the lists section screens for those methods. I would not take those signals just because they came up on the lists, but I use them as a starting point to look at with my own criteria. The chart section offers a lot of indicators which can be used for further analysis. They list some indicators I did not know, but if you click on them there is a description, and for a few indicators I googled for more info. It seems like the more I learn the more I have to learn!!! Exciting and frustrating at the same time. I am using a practice account for now--working on getting results that give me enough confidence to venture my own hard-earned $$$.

All I can say , it's one of the best OB/OS indicators out there.
and can help you to place yourself safely within the current trend.
Bollinger on Bollinger bands contains great examples.
