I am being patient ... patiently watching my pips rack up .... do you realize the bottom of the large flag you are talking about is 156. I pray that happens .. that would be a 600 pip short for me???? I got 120 pips in bank on the last short and 150 pips of unrealized profit and am aiming for 160 / 161

what got into you today ???? you were doing so well at playing both side now you are only thinkning long , when clearly we are in a downward bear flag and the top of the flag was not breached earlier ...

The rate cut is built in already ... that is not going to help the bulls.

But seriously, follow the charts on the higher TF and you cant loose. I haven't. Got kicked out of a 1000+ pip trade in GU and a few others when Uncle Bernie decided to cut rates but I'll get back in, when the time is right.

The Live news fed is free by Newstrike part of Hold brothers LLC. To be honest I think a news feed is quite important these days.

i shorted top 16450 and now im keeping open long at 15850.
So i done today i will reverse when bears clear out ema 14 on h3 which is 15975 atm.

you need the news feed so that whatever they say you do the opposite ..

take the dj futures this morning for example ....gdp less than expected ... unemployment more than expected .. furtures rose by 150 points .. it was a great bull trap ....

Yeah. I hear what you say, but when it comes to currencies, interest rate news has a very profound effect and the news wire (Dow Jones) stated that the BOJ were gonna cut rates, like imminenently. All the big movers saw this and the GJ moved 70 pips in about 15 seconds, that's all I'm saying. I am 120% sure that the announcement I described is what moved the otherwise sluggish market at THAT time.

Actually malcolm.. gdp was not less than expected - it was still negative, but not a lower number. -0.3% is better than -0.5%

The markets work in a funny way - if they expect a company to announce a 5 billion $ loss, and it announces a 4 bn loss instead.. the stock will rally (even though it is still a huge loss)

Oh absolutely, I trade based on fundamentals - so I'm always keeping an eye out. I don't trade techs like these brave souls out here.. (what's a sma? huh? )

question is what did it do after the 70 pip spike ? news is diesgned to mess with you. I know when news is coming out .. but take no notice of it ... even interest rates .. look at dj yesterday for example .... did it really psike on fed rate cut NO .. it was built into the market

nothing suspicious about the YM other than the last 60 min candle was on very high volume .. bet we get a drop tomorrow morning.

lol oh yeah ....

no nothing funny about the move in the YM..... it was a lrage up volume .. then a move to higher ground with decliing volume = BULL TRAP and a very easy short ... I did 200 points iun 1 hours on the YM this morning ... 220 to be exact ...

You'll be caught off guard one day when a surprise news event comes out. Priced in markets are a fact - that is fundamentals. Markets factored that UK, EU will cut rates - so the EU/GU slide began some time ago. The actual event makes no difference if it comes out exactly as planned.

Why would anything spike based on the rate decision yesterday? It came out exactly 50 bps as markets had expected. If there was a shift - say, 100 bps .. you're telling me there would have been no move?

I've been around these forums long enough.. I remember once when everyone was short.. and the Feds announced a surprise cut (no meeting was planned, nothing) shorts went out the window - had a nice 800+ pip move.

Forex carry trades continued to rally on Thursday, as the Japanese yen tumbled more than 3 percent versus high-yielding currencies like the New Zealand dollar and Australian dollar, while falling over 1 percent against the US dollar and British pound This had mostly to do with a further improvement in risk appetite, as the DJIA and S&P 500 rose over 2 percent.

However, risks remain for the low-yielding yen as some are speculating that the Bank of Japan may actually cut rates tonight. According to an updated Bloomberg News poll, 15 of the 17 economists surveyed think the BOJ will do so and Credit Suisse overnight index swaps are pricing in 17bps worth of rate cuts over the next 12 months. However, I’m with the minority on this one, and I would be absolutely floored if the BOJ did anything but leave rates unchanged at 0.50 percent. It was just in the summer of 2006 that the central bank finally moved away from ZIRP, or Zero Interest Rate Policy, which they implemented in 2001. With interest rates already so low, a reduction is highly unlikely to have a significant impact on Japanese growth, so I don’t think the BOJ will believe it’s worth their while to cut. While BOJ rate decisions don’t usually have a big impact on the Japanese yen, the speculation surrounding this news could lead the low-yielding currency to gain if they do indeed leave rates unchanged. On the other hand, a rate cut could provide a good opportunity for the Japanese government to intervene in the markets and capitalize on the potential drop in the yen.
