Whats going on with interbank fx spreads? The EUR had a 2 pip spread like a week ago and suddenly its up to 4-9 pips! I'm trading practice accounts but this is the first time i've seen spreads increase to this range in over 1.5 years! Nasty surprise! Whats going on?

Its more than just IBFX, its happening to all the Brokers that offer variable spreads. There is a huge problem with liquidity. Is this going to be the norm for awhile?

I'm not sure whats going on. The asian markets are taking a beating right now. The futures market are looking awful. Standard & Poor's 500 Index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was limited today after declines of more than 6 percent. Its scary times, it could be a slaughter for the stock market tomorrow. We might just see the circuit breaker getting flipped.

I'm looking at GBP/USD right now with a spread of 29! It changes with each tick. it jumps from 29 to 11 then 20 then 8, 16, 26, etc. Spread on EUR seems to be ranging between 4 and 6 but still jumping around with each tick in price.

I think that a lot of traders have been cautious about trading lately, volatility has been unbelievable. It's hard to set your entry and exit points at this market.

interbank fx spreads during new york market hours for the 4 major pairs is still ok.

I noticed that during the japan and london market hours , the spreads is super high.

A number of 12 -15 pips spreads for the not so popular crossing pairs

when you get libor hanging at 400 and IG 11 in the 200s, I'd be surprised to get a narrow spread in FX.

gotta expect high spreads right now boys and girls... i'd be wary of any mt4 broker showing you 2 pips on the euro right now. God forbid your trying to swing a big line... UGH one word "slippage"
