Its only 4 and 6 levels deep, still have room to work with. I am 7 deep on the Eur/jpy so that is my main concern for now.

I got in on the sell side of EUR/JPY last night since I turned my EA on just after markets opened. I've been getting in as soon as spreads go down on IBFX Sunday nights.

Well, I went ahead and took my losses. I may decide to sit out trading until this bailout is done. Even though I didnt trade the GBP/JPY it has moved over 600 points and other currencies have moved well over 300, EUR/JPY over 400. My EA got strained to the limit so I am out. I will wait until things settle down. The normal retracements were hard to come by. If you were with the trend it was great but I was on the wrong side on three. So I took my lumps and will wait for better times. I think in 6 months this is only the second time I had to close out three possible death trades in one day, so I will wait.

If some of you may want to understand my logic in sitting out my live account , it is this. If Monday, which is the slowest day of the week, is doing 3,4,600 point moves, what will the rest of the week be like. There is nobody right now that can give you a good idea of what this market will do this week. I may change my mind and go with .01 trades just to be safe but this may very well be the wildest week ever. So rather be safe than sorry. Sorry, if I disappoint some. Anyway time for bed.

I made what I hope is a smart move for the day with the 100/40 and closed my positions for a loss. I've been trading 0.01 size lots so it's not too bad of a hit, I just don't see it retracing while I'm at work and I don't want that cloud hanging over me when I can't do anything about it. On the positive side, my other system is doing quite well right now, but it's a manual system and I don't have time to use it at the moment.

Nanningbob, once we clear this US Bailout hurdle, I'm thinking things will be back to ab-normal

In MT4, when you put a moving average (MA) on the chart you are given 4 choices for the MA

1. Period--that is the MA average you wish
2. Shift--that is number or time periods you want the MA line to be moved into the future. Shift 1 is moving the entire line one candlebar into the future
3. MA method--what mathematical formula do you want the MA based on
4. Apply to--What numbers does the mathematical formula use. Close means it uses only the closing price, open uses only the opening price, Median is the average of the high and low of that candle or time period. So if the high is 10 and the low is 4 the median is 7. 7 is the number used in the mathematical formulas.

Of all the methods I like Median the best and LWMA for MA method. LWMA uses the most recent information for the Math formula.

The difference between a 1MA and 2 MA on a 1 day chart is minimal. I went to a 2 MA because it gives a little more room but the difference is very small.

It is very clear you made the smart move. I am not live trading until this is over. The worst day in stock history. We are in real trouble folks, this is not going to be a small recession. Even with the bailout, we are in trouble. Here is the news:

In a stunning vote that shocked the capital and worldwide markets, the House on Monday defeated a $700 billion emergency rescue for the nation's financial system, ignoring urgent warnings from President Bush and congressional leaders of both parties that the economy could nosedive without it. The Dow Jones industrials plunged nearly 800 points, the most ever for a single day.

Stocks began falling even before the 228-205 vote to reject the bill was officially announced on the House floor. The 777-point decline for the day surpassed the 684-point drop on the first trading day after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

I am trading the 14 recommended pairs with a $2,000 demo account with .03 starting lots. Since it is only a demo, I would like to see how it does through these tough times. Currently equity is $2,092, so far so good.

Hello everyone,

I started the ea yesterday at 6 PM PST and shut it off at right at the beginning of the US Open. I find this to be the best times to run this ea. I made $100 in profit running .01 trades. Nanningbob I am very impressed with your system and ea. My account balance keeps going up. Slowly but surely.

it was wild yesterday...
I was also 7 levelsdeep on the Eur/jpy..
and some other jpy pairs was also 4 or 5 levels deep...
I will usual close it out before I leave office...
And I did that yesterday,.. and took quite a big hit...

there was a slight retactment at about 8GMT (if I got the timing correct), should have got out on that...
but I didn't...

This is a question for anyone who has played around with this EA.

I am trying to set the EA to make 1 trade, instead of 8, per trading period (1 day).

I tried setting it to Max Trades = 1. This did not work as the EA made several more trades on that pair.

Does anyone have any ideas?

if you double click on the smiley face on the top right hand corner
and on input tab, on max trades do you see "1"?
If so it should work...
If not, then may be you can change it to 1 and save it...
close, reopen to check if the 1 is there.
If still no, load the save you have done.
It should be there now

Here are my results with the '1D1H 60+45 8L' expert between Sept. 23-29, six trading days. Two charts are posted because IBFX chose to consolidate my trade records after three days at 200 trades. The IBFX mailbox message said 'trades >200 would be consolidated on the account in order to improve server efficiency'. Has anyone else run into this problem with IBFX? It certainly confuses ones attempt to track a trading account performance. If it's a permanent policy on their part I may need to do my testing on another brokers demos.

To try and create a meaningful test I've set the expert to begin daily trades at the same time, 00:00 GMT, which is equal to 09:00 am the Asian open. As NNgBob was experimenting, I monitored open P/L balance at the end of Asian market to consider closing and reopening before the New York open. If market was volatile and daily bar level had crossed the MA, I would close and reopen to get on the right side of the New York market bounce. This explains the occasional drops in the balance line. The two charts should be seen sequentially, with balance beginning at US$5000 and ending at US$5478.33.


The last drop represents Mondays crazy market. Equity was deep in the hole but I waited till early Tuesday am when it recovered to close trades.

The equity balance line is a bit jagged but up $478 over six days on a $5000 demo account starting with .05 lots on IBFX.

Hey Leo, Thanks for posting. I am sitting it out with my live account. Read an article how the FX market was more subdued in its reaction to yesterday (REALLY???) Anyway his point was to expect more volatility not less, so with my EA only covering 3-400 points and several currencies running 5-600 plus I am only going to run my demos and see what would have happened.

Actually, after I made sure all the settings were right, double checked that MaxTrade=1 and was saved and loaded as such, the setting still did not work. The EA kept making trades regardless of the MaxTrade setting.

This is a great EA and it is such a pity that one of the settings doesn't seem to work.

Please Bob, if time permits you, would you be kind enough to look into this and fix it? The MaxTrade setting doesn't seem to be working. Maybe the 8 levels were hard coded into the EA?
