Actually I am having some problems with my older demos and updates. What I did was download a fresh copy from my broker and that seemed to work. I will have to look for the specific EA you requested, I havent used that one in a while. It would not be hard to post that again but I have a long day today and wont get to it until tomorrow. Sorry.

Wow. What a week. I have learned a lot about my program, the most important being can it survive a whacky out of control week. The answer to that is yes if you do a certain thing with it. I ran 6 demos this week and after Mondays moves I changed everything from .10 to .05 trades. It is obvious that .10 is too dangerous to trade with 3000 dollars under certain market conditions. I also changed every one of the EAs to 8 levels. This makes sure you dont overload the EA with too many high priced trades.

I did not use the gbp/jpy all week and I am also dropping the Eur/Aud. It had several 5-600 pip days. Most currencies stayed in the 200-500 pip range. I had one EA make 1800 in one day but was sitting 1500 in the hole so I closed it out for 300 profit. That is where I decided to drop the .10 a trade, I dont want to see that again even though it worked. THIS TIME.

I always wondered what would happen and how I would handle a whacked out market? I mean can the news get any worse? Well, yeah I guess its possible. What happens when the Federal Government runs out of money and the ability to borrow is gone? I would quit trading at that point. Would have bigger problems to face.

Enough rambling. Here is what I learned.

The rule is simple: take the profit or small loss now or lose big later. I began closing all trades twice a day to reset the EA back to 0 and bring the full 400 pip range of the EA into play. I did this usually around the JPY opening session and the USA opening session. About 12 hours apart. If I did this, I did have some losing sessions but the whole week went very well. If I didnt the EA would be in trouble and I would be hanging on some death trades. I am sure some of you saw them this week. Here are two accounts trading the same method. One I shut down twice a day and the other I let run. You can see the difference in results. The one I shut down had its dips but the other one collapsed around the 430 trade mark. You can see where the line went flat on one because I was closing trades for no gain. The other one went into several death trades and didnt come out. The flat line was caused because the EA would make aroung 200-300 dollars but the deficit would also be 2-300, so it was a break even deal when I closed the trades out. I didnt like going into the US open with some currencies being on levels 4-6 on a 8 level system. So I moved them back to 0. Here are the pics.

I started the ea each day around 5 PM PST and closed out all trades around 5 am PST. Here are my results trading just .01.

Looks good. I think some people are getting it. I adjusted according to what the market was doing. When the market is moving a great deal I like to restart often and stay out of trouble. If the market is normal or slow then I let the EA run more. I dont remember the market ever being this volatile with almost every currency. I have seen individual currencies or a currency group have big moves but practically every currency is moving all over the place. This makes trading tough but with some caution the EA still worked.

I have a question: how did you manage aud/jpy on the day?
On Wednesday, aud/jpy was opened with long position by the Ea (1D 100x40).
Seeing the downward trend in the day chart, I felt opening direction was not good. But the price went up I got 200 pips easily.
Problem was after that. Picture shows 1h chart from Tuesday to Thursday.After the price went up by 200 pips and taking profit, the buy order of level 1 was made. After that it reached level 5 soon. As they happened on lunch time, I could check them on the PC monitor. After small upward movements, the price went down to level 8. I was obliged to closed the pair at 11:30 pm in Japan time, 14:30 GMT, because it was the closing time in my rule. The price rebounded at the support level of around 81.5 attained on Tuesday in the late US session.I got about $20 and lost $830 with aud/jpy.
I wonder I should have closed at about London open. But at that time I could not check PC. Maybe so couldn't you.

Even with my method, which is to basically let the EA run, it's working great. Even this past week. The only problems it had was when I jumped in and started messing around when I shouldn't have. But it fixed the problems I caused and still put me out on top. Next week, I will have it running on more currencies at a slightly reduced lot size (to be determined through testing this weekend). This will spread my risk and profits out more.

Very good question. Because of the volatility of the week I was closing twice a day and keeping the Euro, jpy sessions separate from the USA session. Basically dividing the trading day in half. I feel my EA can safely handle 350-400 pip range before i am in real trouble. So if I divide really volatile days in half I can cover safely some of these 5-600 pip moves that happened during the week. That strategy seemed to work real well.

Ok honesty here. In reality this was the first week I have ever had to handle volatility on this level. It took a quick adjustment on my part and i took my best guess. My best guess seemed to work and that was to divide the trading day in half and keep the two major sessions traded separately. I think this would have solved the problem you presented and it was how i handled all these steep currency moves. I think practically every currency had moves that put them in the top five moves for the last 7 years. So if you could safely trade this week successfully you could trade any market.

So I hope you understand that this was my first experience in dealing with the market like this and that was my solution. I obviously would admit that the idea I presented is not a time tested solution but one that did work this week. It does mean there were several sessions i took losses but the over all the effect was always I kept my account intact and over the week I made a nice profit. That is always the goal of trading my system to survive the big moves with minimum loss and then when things go well keep the profits. Preservation of your original capital is the key. So if that meant Wednesday you needed to take a loss before it got bigger that is what you should do. Definitely if you are deep in the hole by the USA session you need to find that bounce that gets you out. For me other currencies made enough profit to negate most if not all the loss from that trade.

Here are my results from efforts to trade using NNBobs system during the last two weeks. So nine days, I skipped last Friday.

On the 100+40 D1.5 I set lots to .02, "Use Trading Hours" to 'true' and 'Trade Asian market' to 'true'. For convenience I set the other trade sessions to 'false' and the time for the Asian session from 0 to 20. This let me turn on the expertadvisors on the MT4 platform a few before Asian market open and leave it to start at 00:00 GMT, which I believe is 09:00 Tokyo time?? Due to the changing Daylight savings time I may be off one hour in this estimate.

The initial drop on the chart is due to the gap over the previous weekend. I usually make it a practice to close all trades on Friday as soon as there is profit. So about +$512 trading 17 pairs with .02 starting lot size.

On the 50+40 D1.8 account I used similar settings but used .01 as default initial lot size. So, 9 trade days and $278 profit.

My total profits seem to be less than others posted statements but likely due to their use of higher intitial lot sizes????

I'm testing a 4H version of the tp100+40_D1.5 but initial results show the Daily setting of the original expert gets better results.

Leo I have replaced the 50 40 with a 60 45. It has a little more range but it profitable on the deep end where the 50 40 could lose money when it goes 8-10 levels deep. Also the multiplication factor is 1.8. I had better results with it this week than the 50 40. I attached it so you could try it out.

I have come across so many new concepts on this thread that I had no previous knowledge of.
Example, trading in specific periods of the day which are safer. I have tried to understand it but I'm getting a little confused. Maybe it's because I'm fatigued from work.

I wanted to ask, please, what is the best time of the day to trade USD/*** pairs, EUR/*** and the Yen pairs? I feel like I'm clueless lol.

I put Bob's 100/40 EA on my MT4 demo platform to trade 5 pairs. I ran the platform for two days and no trade was opened by the EA. Am I doing something wrong? I am to personally open trades?

Also, I didn't see the MA on the charts after I added the EA. Am I to set the MAs myself? If so, what parameters?

I'm sorry if these questions seem a little irritating...I'm just new to all this information.

When you put an EA on a chart make sure you check live trading. If you dont it wont work. You also need to turn it on by pressing the expert advisor button on the top of your screen. If you have the EA on correctly you will see a happy smiley face in the upper right corner of your chart. If you see an unhappy face or an x you do not have the EA on correctly.

This is an experimental EA for testing and there will be ideas on how to use it. Basically you trade it 24/5 and watch out for the big loss. We are still in the testing experimental stage.

The MA is set by you on the chart but it is simple. When price crosses the 1 or 2 MA shift 1 Close Median, depending on the version posted, it will enter that direction on a daily chart. The EA does the rest. Also having support and resistance lines helps you in determining whether to get out of a trade or stay in. These things are explained in detail elsewhere in this thread. Basically the EA follows the daily trend.

I was too slow. A couple other EA ideas.
Did you enter a lot size that your broker will accept?
Did you look at the Experts log and the Journal log? Do they show any errors?

Here is a perfect picture of a death trade. Price has gone outside the range of the EA. The EA range are the red and green lines, when you go outside the range of the EA you are in trouble. I posted letter A and B in yellow showing the retracement that would have gotten you out of trouble with a small loss. Accounts get wiped out if you stay in this trade and it keeps going south. You just take your loss and go on. My closing twice a day kept me out of such trouble all week. This demo I kept running live all week to see what would happen. I have about a 1/2 dozen trades like this. If the monday gaps go against me its bye bye account. If they go with me, I am a very lucky guy. In reality I would never have let this happen with a live account. Some people wanted to see a death trade, well here one is.

Some people ask, when do I get out, how do I determine the place of exit. I use pivot, support and resistance lines. If a trade is in trouble or heading for trouble I see if it breaks a line. For example you see on the top of the page a red dotted line that has r3 on it. I am at level 7 or 8 and I am wondering if I should get out or not. I watch the bounce off of r3. If price breaks through and goes on, I just take the loss. That is just part of trading. Better though is seeing if it bounces off and I get a retracement back to r2 or lower. You can see in this example, that is what it did so I minimized my loss. That is how you can use support and resistance to minimize losses. I use this on a 1H chart but you can also see these lines 4H charts and lower. I also attached the PB_autopivots program for you to use. Another way I use this is if price has spiked up to a high resistance or support line. I will turn the EA off on this pair or close for the day. I think the main run is done for the day.

Put the PB autopivots in your indicators folder.

Another way to watch out is a 4H chart. This covers 6 weeks of price action. I drew the high/low support and resistance lines. If I am in a trade and it breaks out above or below these lines I make sure my trade is in the same direction. This is another way of determining whether you stay in a trade or not. If the trade is still early but you can see you could get into trouble if you go beyond these lines. Then you can take the small loss. As long as price stays between these lines the EA will cover anything that happens.

I also attached a 1D chart. I have a sell on this pair and I know it is in trouble. If it bounces off the line I can get out with a smaller loss. If it goes through then I am out. I take my loss. Again in live trading I would not have let it get this deep in the hole but I am experimenting and practicing getting out of death trades.
