Just trying to get a handle on it. BTW I have compared MT4s volume and it is not even close to being correct. Probably, because it is only from them or is a percent of what their feed passes to them.
as for daily charts i sometimes use futures and stock chart. you have to understand that same principles work in futures and very often forex daily chart does not give you clues what derivative markets give.

i noticed that sometimes MT4 changes its volume on the next day or bar, more often intraday. it is good free software.

But can you imagine Tiger Woods plays championship with cheap golf clubs? you are getting what you are paid for.

but to start MT4 is ok. same principles.

Congratulations for your thread,it is exceptional.

I have been a fan of Mr Jankovsky`s teachings for years...BUT...I had never been able to integrate his methods nor VSA into a simple an effective analysis tool until I read your posts and the way you analyze the different evolving situations...then the pieces of the puzzle "clicked" in place,and I wanted to thank you for that.

In short, when market stops that means some group is initiating and when market moves somebody is under liquidation.
The thing is that public sometimes stops buying tops and selling bottoms as a group and switches to picking tops and bottoms. Often news and recommendations form “official” source helps in this process. Public liquidation drives the market further.
When the trend is up there is more people who thinks that market went too far and they start selling short to pick a top, more and more people who missed the trend or took profits too early start selling to pick a top. Their liquidation will drive the market higher until they stop picking a top or finally convinced that they are wrong and buy at the top.
In summary: Trend ends when public starts participating on the same side of a trend all together and it continues while public tries to find a turning point.

yes, esignal does a good job for intraday volume. they are now tracking 308 major banks and brokers. Plus, you can specify which bank or broker, like FXCM, you want to track.

Would you consider FXCM a good source of volume? I had a conversation earlier today about volume with a person I know of there and was told the volume from them is a generation of only their traders, which they say is about $350billion per Month.

I am just concerned that these traders are mostly retail and corporate, which would not be indicative of what the banks are doing and the syndicates.

What are your thoughts on this?

Edit I changed the $350 billion from day to month. I just typed wrong. sorry about that.

i use a composite volume from all sources and don't separate them, however, i know guys who trading through FXCM and they do separate volume for this broker.

From my experience, I prefer a composite volume. Moreover, i don't look at exact number in volume because it is irrelevant. I look for relative volume for every bar.

yes, esignal is not free. as a free option, try Metatrader. it is a good choice to start with, but in the end you would need a good tool. Imagine Tiger Woods playing with Chinese replica of good golf clubs.

Forex is a Zero Sum game. for a buyer you need a seller. this part is easy
however, not many people know that if you bought from a professional its up to him now to let you out from your losing trade. that is why the price moves fast into your stops, because professionals are taking another side of the market and mark it against you.

now, when a herd buys but the market stop rising, someone, is matching herd's orders. as soon as 100 buyers come to the table, a large operator is matching their orders so fast that the market can move higher on the buy orders.


this is really very brief explanation.

2. In summary: Trend ends when public starts participating on the same side of a trend all together and it continues while public tries to find a turning point.

this is simple professional market participant operates with large sums, so to buy he needs public selling. when public sells he can accumulate his holding without marking the price against his own buying. his buying is so big that it removes all supply from the public. After he accumulated and removed all floating supply from the market the market has only one direction -- up.

After his buying stopped a move, you can add first question here. the public has been locked in shorts. herd will be buying back once price is rising. However, herd needs somebody to let them out and sell into this panic buying, but professionals are bullish, and there will be not enough sell orders that is why price spikes high, because nobody matching their orders to cap their buying.

at the top the opposite happens. when public becomes bullish, professionals will sell to distribute their holdings, but to do that they need public to buy

news are the best tool of professionals. news produced gladly for the dumb herd to allow smart money to accumulate or to distribute their holdings.


smart money don't buy on up bar or sell on down bar. pushing market ahead of your own orders is a poor business.

This is the only one I can seem to find.

The tick volume on MT4 charts is a % of the real tick volume coming through the broker's portal. Their portal probably sees 80% of the ticks in the spot market. Take it for what it's worth. The real volume isn't going to show you much more. I've used eSignal (horrible software) for spot FX and I've used Investor R/T (awesome guys and great software and cheaper than eSignal) for FX futures. Currently I analyze candles in a totally proprietary fashion and I'm having much better success than anything else.

I commend your efforts. Stick to it and you'll surely outlast 95% of the members here.
First, if you have not noticed we are talking here about freedom of trading WITHOUT proprietary indicators. I can eat my hat if your "proprietary" indicator is another representation of MACD plus/minus Stochastic multiply by CCI or along these lines. I have been working with a young guy who has been working for nuclear research institute in Russia and he developed system based on Chaos theory using his experience in advanced physics. he has two threads here in FF. we have been working together to use volume as one of inputs for his system. his research has been published in Futures magazine and recently in Stocks & Commodities. That what I call "propriatory"!


Second, regarding eSignal, there is a good saying "bad dancer always blames his shoes".

i use Auckland time, we have 2 hours difference with Sydney

I use only the charts I post. i don't post daily chart often because they are not as interesting to discuss, too slow.

i am experimenting with point and figure charts and kagi charts with volume
