MT platform periodically not allowing trades

I'm demo trading with Alpari. Numerous times I've tried to enter a trade but when I click on Tools, the New Order option is greyed out and can't be clicked on - does anyone know why this is happening?

Have you accidentally logged into the "investor" account? (That's read-only)

Are you trying to enter an order for an unusual item, (not a currency pair)? I use a RU demo and I've noticed some items are not available 24 hours a day. Have you checked in the market watch window to see if what you are trying to trade is available?

I think that may be it - been trying to log into my Alpari account on my home computer from my laptop without any success. I check it out when I get back home. Thanks.

Not trying to trade any exotic pairs - just gbpusd.
