JPY GDP, Red or Not?

Just been looking over the history for the JPY GDP tomorrow night - the general consensus seems to be JPY news is usually a dud and doesn't move the market that much. Just curious as to why it's flagged Red on the FF calendar?

Ah yes, Japan GDP... Last Oct/Nov's GBP was a big mover. However, it did not last long.

Japan's GDP is mainly export and nothing much on "local-driven" component which came out flat to negative. After that (an hour or two later), JPY weakened.

It could have been a nice straddle/autoclick if you dare want to risk it. But I have stayed away news trading JPY news.

I would like to add to this conversation that low volume in the market during the Asian session is also a possible factor.

Any idea what date the last one was released? I'd like to checkout historical charts.

how can we forget the last JPY GDP report?!? it was a stunner! i will be looking to trade this release...

Being that the WSJ and Economist are suggesting the GDP numbers are A) going to be substantially higher due to weak economic activity from July thru September due to "cooler weather discouraging personal consumption" and B) that this release will be telling of the future interest rate direction....

I'm thinking there should at least be some decent volatility....

That was definitely a red lol. Never seen JPY news make such an impact - did my UJ short no harm hehe

yeah that is yen bearish (it signals deflation), but it doesnt look like anyone cares at the moment....
