EA for NR7's

Just wondering if anyone here has seen an EA to identify NR7 bars. I not a programmer but it doesn't seem like it would be terribly hard to make.

NR7??

NR7 = the bar with the narrowest range of the last seven bars.

I am requesting that someone could please can make an indicator to identify

1) Inside Bars
2) NR4 (bar with smaller range than last 3 bars)
3) NR7 (bar with smaller range than last 6 bars)

4) And most importantly if the bar happens to be both an Inside bar and a NR4 or NR7

I guess if it would show three different colored arrows this would be best or change the color of the bar itself but I don't know if that is possible. Also if it can incorporate a sound alert at the completion of the bar.

The idea is that these bars typically precede a big move. Can someone please give this a shot?

I made one for NR4 and IBs, both were hit or miss altho NR3s (strangely enough) performed fairly well. There's an intra-day pattern we've seen lately of one big trend day followed by 2 tightening range days that has been preceeding large breakouts. Double IBs also do surprisingly well, I think it relates to the above pattern.

Oh, and what you want isn't an EA but an indicator. An EA trades for you, while an indicator shows arrows on the screen.

So Rabid the one you made was hit and miss as to catching the bars? Are you saying that it missed some bars?

Nah, I wrote an EA not an indicator, the idea was to backtest the theory that NR4 and NR7 bars had a predictive value as put forth by Linda Bradford Raschke and, earlier, Toby Crabel. What I found is that, in forex at least, the volatility and multiple sessions changes the patterns a bit and made an NR3 more predictive.

Was not the NR4 to suggest a possible volatile daytrading session the day following?

Nod. I guess what I'm saying is that if you look at the lower TFs you'll notice patterns that better define the basic NR patterns.
